When will Wilco US tour dates be announced?

Recommended Posts

Finally, a Wilco show on a night I can attend in NYC. But by the time I was able to try for a ticket, all that was left was the back of the upper upper upper balcony. I will try again, but will have to go for 1st or 2nd mezzanine as that is my price range. It would be nice if I could manage to see this band more than once! (My only time was way back on the Summerteeth tour!)

Your call if you want I’ll grab you a ticket when I’m in the city Saturday it’ll shave off $15-20 a ticket let me know

I used the unique code for the Wang Theater this morning and the same seats were available from using yesterday’s code. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I probably didn’t need the venue code, unless if there was a one ticket limit for CasinoQueen.

I’m in for Boston night 2. Orchestra Right Row N aisle seat.

I wonder if the public sale tomorrow will have any seats in the 1st 10 rows.

Edit: oh! Today it showed that I was the 588th person waiting in the TM waiting room. That didn’t happen for me yesterday. Lots of demand or those numbers are just made up.

Was this just the presale?

I have found that it's often easier to get good seats in the general onsale than the presale,  I think this is because roughly the same number of people (and bots) are looking for seats during a presale as the regular sale, but they limit the number of available seats during a presale.  Presales aren't the secret exclusive fan club event they once were (or pretended to be).

Got 4 seats, 3rd row for Dallas/Irving!  Super excited, and it's all great, except... over $1k?!?

The pricing for this show is absurd and erratic.  Down front some seats are 80 (plus fees) per ticket, and then seats in the same row and section, but 2-3 seats down, are $180.  Some seats in the first 4-5 rows are ~$275 per ticket.  This is a relatively new venue and this has been my experience every time, I can't stand it there.  The cheapest decent seats are literally double priced for a pair than I paid at Cain's the night before in Tulsa.

Ha, you're so right!  I've been out of town and grabbed our tix from the road so when I saw the price I just swallowed hard and went for it.  Called my wife and were lamenting that we went for the local show instead of opting for a road trip to Cain's.  If you've not been to Cain's you are in for a treat!  We attended the show a few years back that ended up on the Ashes DVD and it was among my very favorite and most memorable shows.

I've been to Cain's only once for Band of Horses.  This was also "a few years back" in my mind - and now I'm not looking up the actual date thanks to the above post.

So they going to push three years since the last Chicago show then? Can’t imagine they’d wait until 2020.

Been scrolling through these threads without commenting until I saw these comments about Chicago.

Over the years, Wilco have played a shit ton of shows in the midwest, especially in Chicago. A quick Internet search reveals multiple shows there in February 2017. In the same city.

Contrast that, if you will, with the entire state of Florida. Yeah, the 4th most populous state in the nation. Last time Wilco played any shows in the state was in May 2015.

2015. That means no Star Wars tour here. No Schmilco tour. Nothing.

And on this upcoming tour, the closest they get is Atlanta. Sorry, I like Wilco and all, but I'm not driving ten hours one way. Can't afford it.

Jeff just played some solo shows here, which was nice--first solo shows he's EVER played in the state. Considering the amount of shows in CA and TX, etc., over time, it's hard to understand the lack of dates here in recent years.

Really disappointing to see Wilco doing ticketing the way they are on the upcoming US tour. Agreeing to sell "Official Platinum" seats at Radio City for $750 isn't the way this band used to operate.

Maybe I'm the only one bummed by this?

Maybe they figure those seats are going to sell for that much regardless, and accepting that reality, why should a re-seller on Stubhub be the one to make the money and not the band?

Many other ticketing options have been tried to avert this kind of thing, but none of them have caught on.

I worked a long time ago in the concert industry and back then we paid the band a fee then it was up to the promoters pricing the tickets. I don’t think the band can put a ceiling on the prices of the tickets but I believe it’s the promoter/venue maximizing their return and not lining the bands pockets.. I might be wrong though

I get what you are trying to say but I don't agree - they are pricing most people out of their show by setting a $750 ticket price. There are people like me who would pull that seat for $100 or even $150 and not think about selling it because sitting in the first row to see Wilco is amazing. I wouldn't resell it.

I don't buy that the band doesn't have input into the pricing. Jeff has mentioned in past interview their decision to move from $30 tickets to $50.

They might be pricing most people out.  But they'll have no trouble finding the 200 people (or whatever the number is) who would buy those seats in NYC.  There's no shortage of businesses that want to give a nice pair of tickets out to clients as as "gifts," or rich assholes who don't care about the band but want to show off for their dates.  I've snuck up to the front few rows at Wilco shows.  It's not exactly their fan club sitting in those seats a lot of the time.

I don't like it any more than you do.

Look at Radiohead...5 members (well, now 6 touring) with a MASSIVE production and their prices never exceed $120 (normally

you can still see the show without being in the first two rows.

in terms of getting seats, bots >>> humans.

I’ll never begrudge a musician for getting what they can, when they can, especially when a significant amount of their income comes from touring. Sucks when the tickets get more expensive and you encounter stuff like platinum tickets and virtual waiting rooms, but it is what it is.
