I guess he was security, at least the uniformed secuguys made a switch after he showed them some signs and where to stand. Took me a long time to figure it out. Found him so creepy. Jeff came over to him and said something like "why the fuck are you so pissed off all the time, just relax"
Edit: ok, so after reading winterland's post I guess he was just plain weird and creepy.

Great show. The best one I've seen by Wilco so far. Have never seem them in such a good mood before. I was one of the "gap fillers" and got a great spot right in front of Jeff on the 2nd row. The security tried to get people to leave during the first song but soon realized that it wasn't about to happen. After that they seemed to be cool about it and more people started streaming in. The setlist was great. After the main set I was a bit worried that they hadn't played either Via Chicago or Misunderstood. Couldn't even dream that they would play them both in the encore...so I was happy in the end. The extra songs were a nice addition to an already great show. Now trying to decide which show on the feb/march tour to go to, I wasn't originally planning to go, but now I need more...

Current board from last thursday :
Some small changes.

Better venue, better sound, better audience, all in all better show than the already great show in Helsinki the night before. The venue is an old warehouse, holds about 1200 people, all standing. Got in line about 15 minutes before the doors opened, 4th in line and front row in front of Jeff again. After the first two songs it was clear that the setlist was going to be something different. Rocking show, lots of energy and the audience really into it. Was great to hear lots of songs not played in Helsinki, ALTWYS was one such highlight for me.
Jeff asked how many people were last night in Helsinki. Several hands were raised. "Then why did we have to move... actually I like it better here". Jesus Etc singalong much better than in Helsinki. Jeff said that the effort that night was pitiful, but didn't say anything not to hurt anyone's feelings (to which someone shouted, "well, I'm hurt"). Lots of fun banter between Jeff and audience memebers (some people yelling that they're from Chicago, which Jeff didn't believe, also heard Madison, WI and somewhere in Florida being shouted out). Huge cheers from the audience after Via Chicago for example, Jeff got a little confused and was waving at us like "get out of here...". Was a bit worried about how this show would turn out, would there be enough people and how would the reaction be... anyway, anyone seemed to love it and it got great reviews in the media. Nels stole the show again, Glenn's drumming is fun to watch, even Mikael was rocking behind his keyboards by the end.
Two hours went by really fast and I was pretty shocked after Hummingbird that it was already encore time. I didn't mind them skipping Misunderstood as the only encore song, the four songs we got instead continued with the fun, rocking vibe. Total lenght was about 2 hours 20mins

Not going, but the venue is really nice. Shaped like a circus (actually was at some point), smallish floor (general admission standing usually) with seats around the sides. About 2000 capacity. Was thinking about going but couldn't make it work. At least they're playing two shows here in Finland if the ash clouds stay away. Can't wait. Hometown show on Friday

Maybe more to come? But what a way to start off their European Tour, making good on their promise to come back to Finland after their festival set last august. The Tampere venue is like 2 minutes from my home.
May-20 Helsinki, FI Kulttuuritalo
May-21 Tampere, FI Pakkahuone
May-23 Stockholm, SE Cirkus
May-24 Oslo, NO Sentrum Scene
May-25 Aarhus, DK Musikhuset
May-28 Barcelona, ES Primavera Sound - Parc Del Forum
May-30 Roma, IT Auditorium Parco Della Musica
May-31 Ferrara, IT Teatro Comunale
Edit 2/7 : added the Norway show

"The Man" by Patto. They used that as intro song a lot back then.

Great footage, been watching for about 30 mins now. Spiders on now, looks like it's about to end soon...

Just got back home after a two hour drive. Great show indeed, and it was nice meeting you as well...
Too bad they skipped Hummingbird, but I heard they're kind of strict about the 10pm curfew for these outdoor shows. The crowd was really good, totally not typical Helsinki/Finland on Monday night crowd. Great to see that the band seemed to enjoy it as well.

Anyone here try to purchase tickets for the Copenhagen show? The link on the website isn't working, and I can't find anywhere to email someone who might be able to fix the link. Alternatively, does anyone know where those tickets are being sold?
I found this: http://www.livenation.dk/event/4783/DKT-Live-Vision-presents-Wilco-tickets
Thought about going to this one, but I think I'll have to settle for the Helsinki show in a couple of weeks.

Is there a direct url to the lo-fi version? I am often reading this forum using Opera Mini browser on my Nokia mobile phone. The "IP.Board/IP.Board Lo-Fi" box at the bottom of the page does not work there. I'm unable to switch to the more readable lo-fi version.

The band is playing their ever first show in Finland. August 17th at the Helsinki Festival http://www.helsinginjuhlaviikot.fi/en/huvila . Expect a full headline show, not a typical festival set. Been waiting for this for years

I had no idea he was so popular in Scandinavia.
He can sell out any number of shows in Sweden instantly it seems. I was lucky, happened to be online at the right time when the 3rd Stockholm show was announced and went on sale. If that wasn't enough, he's playing a show less than a mile from my home on June 2nd Couldn't be happier.

Decided to check this band out, largerly thanks to this thread. Listened to the '59 Sound album and fell in love instantly. Bought the cd and discovered that they're playing a show over here in February. Awesome.

Not that many seated shows over here, usually GA on the floor. But here's my list:
Front row dead center for Bob Dylan this rummer. Arena show.
Front row for Neil Young twice (2008 and 2001), but off to the side. Arena shows.
Front row dead center for Sigur Ros in a small theater back in 2002
Wilco fifth row, London Hammersmith 2005
Pearl Jam and REM in Seattle 2001, photo pit in front of front row
GA front row for too many bands to remember, Wilco included.

Btw, the band played an excellent show on the night the guitar got stolen. It was raining and it was freezing (who the hell thought it would be a good idea to have an outdoor show in Finland in September). But seeing them on that stage having such a good time and playing great made me forget all that. They also played a bunch of rare songs that I as a casual fan hadn't even heard, but it just made me start going through their catalog in more detail over the last couple of days.

I bought the CD/DVD combo + 2 song single ("One True Vine" + "Theologians (live)")
That's what I bought too, ordered from newburycomics.com. However I received the regular cd instead, no dvd:( Sent them an email asking for the correct one. That's what I paid for. EDIT: They just emailed back and promised to mail the correct one today.

Wilco has a 2 hour slot reserved for them at the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland. Not even headlining that night, Brian Wilson will play after them.

Was kind of on the fence about going, but now I will definitely be buying tickets.
