It was the first time in quite a while (that I've seen) where Glenn just hopped up there and did it without having to be egged on by Tweedy first.

They played HMD in the intro of The Heads up Poker Tournament this weekend.
They also used Spiders going into a commercial...
-
In the voice of Chris Farley (nervously drying my sweaty palms on my pants):
"Remember that time... when you played in Indy... and you sang Red-Eyed and Blue? Remeber the whistle part at the end? That was awesome!"
-
Seriously... do both. If you only go to one show, when it's over, you will be pissed you don't have seats to the other one.

The Brewers mitt logo IS great.
And I probably saw it 10,000 times before I realized the mitt was made of an "M" and
a "B" for Milwaukee Brewers.
-
I'll be there... and since it's at IU, I will have to wear a Purdue shirt.
-
I have my tix for the Bloomington show. Don't worry, I've never had any problem getting tix from the pre-sales on time.

"Them Apples"
then I can go around asking people "so, how you like Them Apples?"
Along the same lines... I always wanted to name my band "Pete's Sake"
At some point during a gig, when it's time to introduce the band, the frontman could say, "That's Dan-O... the guitarist for Pete's Sake."

Sondre Lerche
One of my all time favorites, but I've only seen him solo (which I think I'd prefer just because it allows him more space to show off his amazing guitar ability). Would like to see him with the Faces Down though...

The Wonder Stuff
Wow... I thought I was the only fan left. It's been years since I've heard anyone mention them. And I agree... I saw them at the Metro on their HUP tour. Absolutely brilliant... but probably just outside of my top 5.
1. Wilco
2. The Tragically Hip
3. Frank Black & the Catholics
4. Ween
4.5 The Black Crowes
5. Morphine
-
I also caught him playing (piano) with Iron & Wine when they were on Letterman (or Conan, or one of the other late night talk shows). Don't know if he toured or recorded with them or not.
-
My favorite cover I have ever heard wilco do was "political Science" By Randy Newman. That was amazing!
I totally agree. All the same, I don't care if they throw covers into the set list or not. I'd rather hear an obscure Wilco tune.

I have been reading a lot of negative comments about Luther's playing on the Amorica 2 message board.
I didn't think anything of him in particular... didn't stand out as good or bad either way. My favorite that they've had in that slot (at least that I got to see live) is Audley Freed. As for the new keyboard player, I thought he was pretty good. I think people had a special place in their heart for Harsch and having to follow him would be tough for any one.

I just caught them last Saturday at the Horseshoe casino in southern Indiana (used to be Caesar's, near Louisville). Excellent show as usual.
SET LIST:
Wounded Bird
Evergreen
P25 London
Heavy
Grows A Rose
Locust Steet
Rockin Chair
Whoa Mule
Never Ending Song Of Love
Lay It All On Me
Move It On Down The Line
Gods Got It
Nonfiction
Goodbye Daughters Of The Revolution
(Only) Halfway To Everywhere

Here's a link to a pretty good interview with Tweedy in our local entertainment paper:
-
If you really appreciate the band, keep the stick. There's no way in hell anyone is ever getting the guitar they signed and gave to me and I'm sure it could fetch a nice price.
-
Maybe it's the "Jay Bennett edition,"more noise, more of the time!
It will include Jay's understanding of how Tweedy wanted the intro to Heavy Metal Drummer edited instead of how Jeff actually wanted it.

Here's a link with a great picture of the venue:

To quickly answer some of the questions I saw on this thread:
The sound has been very good for every show I've seen there (around 10).
Only 30 rows of seats so the lawn is not too far away from the stage.
No pavilion. So even up front, if it's raining, you're wet.
The setting sun can be an issue... bring shades.
No permanent facilities (unless they are new this year). It's port-o-let city.
Caution: If you are in the first few rows, I hope you are near the center. The seats on the ends of the first few rows have horribly obstructed views and you will be pissed. As you can see in the picture, the front few rows extend WAY beyond the edges of the stage. If you are there, you will only be able to see the front part of the opposite side of the stage.
Overall, I like the venue about as much as I can like an outdoor venue except for the seating issue above. There's no way you should score front row seats and not be able to see most of the stage.

He closed with Baby C'mon in Indy and opened with it in Newport... so I guess I heard him do it twice in a row. Anyway, I agree these were fairly short shows. You get spoiled watching Wilco play for an hour and a half followed by a 7 song encore and then another song or 2. But the Malkmus shows were great. Vanderslice was pretty good too. And it was my first show at Southgate House... what a great venue.

Just a few that haven't been mentioned but need to be:
Rich Gilbert (Frank Black, Tonya Donelly)
Hershel Yatovitz (Chris Isaak)
Tim Mahoney (311)
Charlie Sexton (Dylan and about a million others)
Simon Austin (Frente!)
Chris Whitley (RIP)

It's really good. I can't wait for the upcoming shows. Hopscotch Willie is a jam!
-
Just my two cents... it would be ridiculous for Wilco to pass up what might be their only chance to play SNL in favor of a show they can reschedule any time. If I had tickets to the postponed show, I would be bummed but I would understand.
As for what Wilco will do to make up for it... I suggest that when they play the make-up show, they break out the macrame owl!
-
That explains it...
-
yeah, but didn't you get a guitar that one time you were in the front row?
Wow... you have a good memory. Especially considering
I don't post very much (more of a lurker).

Definitely one of my all time favorites. Wilco is the only band I've seen live more.
I watched the live stream on Saturday. It was great and sad at the same time.
Gordie's solo stuff is also very good.
He will be missed...
