  1. I loved their first album.

You can listen to foyr of the new tracks here:http://bluenote.artiststaging.com/thewoodbrothers/

Sounds like I need this one too.

I really enjoyed the first album and live EP the released, I need to get around to checking out the new one. I would've never of heard of these guys if it wasn't for my long time love affair with Medeski, Martin and Wood. Who would've thought Chris would be playing this type of music?

  2. Tha Carter III sessions are pretty good. I've been watching some of his freestyles on youtube. But Da Drought 3 is probably my favorite that I've heard so far.

The Carter II is a solid rap album IMO, and the Carter I isn't too shabby either.

  3. Outside of my family, this is the first time I've ever seen this movie mentioned anywhere. My sister loves it, my brother hates it, and I've never seen it.

A buddy of mine from Texas introduced me to this movie about 6 years ago, we spent quite a few drunken nights watching it and laughing our asses off. Outside of Netflix this movie is pretty hard to find but I recently joined NF and watched it again with my wife. She didn't care much for it but we have very different tastes and she doesn't really appreciate offbeat or "weird" movies.

  4. From another forum:

Sit down, and shut the fuck up.

    Right -- This stops now.

I'm Paine. I used to be a moderator at OiNK.cd, until, as you know, we were shut down by the BPI and IFPI.

Now, there are far, FAR too many rumours flying around, and I wanted to set some shit straight.

    1. There is no official OiNK IRC right now.

No. The Dalnet IRC is by no means "official". In fact, the staff are point blank refusing to use dalnet. The complete lack of both SSL and vhosts/cloaking makes it a very poor choice. I, personally, am currently on irc://fucknet.wtf.la in #oink, however no other staff (at the time of writing) are, although I am in contact with them.

    2. OiNK will _NOT_ be up today, or tomorrow.

We're not magic. None of the moderators have access to the current code and databases right now -- in fact, neither does OiNK himself, as his stuff was confiscated (remember the crap you saw in the plastic bags on the news?). People purporting to be TMT and/or OiNK are, to be frank, lying their fucking asses off.

    3. There is currently _NO_ "oink legal fund".

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT give ANY money to ANY of these fake funds you are seeing. They are scams. OiNK will not see a penny of this money, and neither will you.

    4. OiNK himself is safe and well.

He's fine and out on bail.

    5. There is no "official" OiNK forum right now.

While there may not be an official forum, a lot of our ex-users are flocking to http://www.ohax.com/phpBB2/ -- Some of the users on there are actually staff. However there are also people maliciously using that site to link to scam sites and other various filth.

Anyway, I hope that's settled a lot of shit. If you're in doubt I'm who I say I am, then don't believe me. I encourage you all to exercise extreme caution when people are floating around throwing names about left right and center saying these things. The "TMT" on Dalnet was not our TMT. In fact, nobody has been in contact with him, and I expect it will remain that way for a very long time.

Edit: A few people have asked me if we logged the IP you snatched things from. The answer is no, we did not log snatch IPs.

Edit 2: This is an important one -- Your passwords do NOT need to be changed, they were stored as salted MD5 hashes. All the authorities have is the hashes. The only way they can get the original passwords is via brute force. The chances of that are slim to none if you followed standard good password practice.

  5. Today looks like a good day for leaks so far, I've seen Son Volt's "The Search" and Charlie Louvin's new album (formerly of the Louvin Brothers), Charlie's album features appearances by Jeff Tweedy and Will Oldham. I'm sure you all know where to look.

  6. I filmed the Son Volt stuff and did a lot of the stuff on Okemah. I don't like BT for DVDs until someone comes up with a verification for them.

Here's The Primitives doing Smoking Gun (or Do We Care?, depending on who you ask). You'll recognize it as what would become "Outdone":

Thanks for sharing all this Sticky, you've been a great asset over at JF.net as long as I've been there. Anyway exactly what do you mean when you say you don't like BT for DVDs until someone comes up with verification for them, are you talking about making sure file integrity is maintained during the transfer of files?

  8. I've got a couple of extra invites for a great lossless site that is growing, and no its not P's. Lots of good stuff here and if you are a jazz fan, you'll be in heaven (there's tons of it). There's also alot of the MFSL recordings and DCC, etc. If you have an account at OiNK send me a PM with your email address and your OiNK username. I'm looking for people that are connectable and willing to give back to the community. Everyone needs another option, right?

  9. I picked this up on Halloween and I agree it's a great album and it is along the same lines as UT's March album, but thats a good thing. Anders Parker was a member of a band called Varnaline, but now does solo work, his songs on the album kind of remind me of Billy Bragg's tracks on Mermaid Ave.

I wish they would come to the southeast for atleast one show, I hate I'm going to miss them live

  10. Aww, it ain't that bad. Those threads are some of my favorites, most of the responses are hilarious.

Hope the board's back up soon. I don't know what to do with myself (hang out here?).

Keith, this is drpyurz49 from the farrar board, I agree the responses the spammers get are hilarious, I was just suggesting that a spammer possibly got pissed off enough to fuck up the site. It's a bad time to have the site down with a new album coming out, hopefully it will be back up shortly, in the meantime I guess I will actually accomplish more work while on the job.

  11. Yeah I noticed that to, it may of been hacked (I hope not), but there have been alot of spammers posting threads trying to selling Soma, Phetermine, Valium, etc. The board regulars usually respond to them with a statement like this, "Fuck off you worthless cunts!" The moderator has even banned some of their accounts and erased the spamming posts. Maybe they took all of our insults personal and decided to get even. I dunno. I hope it doesn't happen here, the moe. message board got hacked early this year as well.

  12. I'm not sure of the reason, but yeah the band has been split up for quite some time. One of my favorite road trip albums is Blue Mountain's "Dog Days", grab this album if you don't own it! Cary Hudson still records and performs alot in Mississippi. He released an album just this year and I've heard good things about it. The only solo Cary Hudson album I own is "Cool Breeze", its pretty good, but not great. Cary has a myspace page as well, you can hear a few tunes and check out tour dates there.
