  1. Theres a sound he makes, Its hard to descibe but im sure you know what I mean its like a warble but it sounds slightly electronic and glichy too, Neil Young gets it sometimes too

I'll check that out Reflected, I have a T-Rex Mudhoney that does the Crazy Horse thing spot on but I want something alot more fuzzy, with no bass whatsoever, like Syd Barrett Interstellar Overdrive

I was thinking of getting an EQ pedal and using it to cut all the bass out of my signal, along with the rex it could do the trick

    Electro Harmonix Microsynth

  2. Wilco is a rock and roll band; a band that epitomizes rock and roll in the current era. They need no further classification, as far as I'm concerned. Though I wasn't around for The Band or The Who in their respective primes, I feel that Wilco took the torch from them. And really, what do you need to call The Band and The Who besides rock and roll?

    ditto :beer

  3. :ermm

Im kidding I am just a fan that loved UT when I first heard d. boon and it was Jeff ..did not know who to follow ( :blink ) Jay or Jeff both great singer/ songwriters regardless WILCO is the best for my ear now .. ha ha did not know who to follow funny is'nt it sounds like a cult ..... :yes :yes

  4. Yeah, shame on these new fans. If the first album of Jeff's you got wasn't a bootleg of his first show with the Primitives, then you aren't a real fan. Hell, the real hard core fans were rocking out to Jeff's early renditions of "Hot Crossed Buns" on the recorder in 2nd grade music class. ;)

In all seriousness, I've been a fan since the Uncle Tupelo days, and I remember arguing with my college roommate about whether Wilco or Son Volt would be better and the exciting feeling that Wilco was this great secret knowledge we shared, but I don't see any reason to hate the new fans. I'm glad when anyone discovers Wilco. Also, with the numerous changes Wilco has undergone, I can understand someone who didn't like "Being There" becoming a fan after "YHF," since these albums differ so much. I think this is one of the reasons we saw so many fans bolting when "Sky Blue Sky" came out. Many of those fans who came on board with "YHF" weren't the kind of fans who would appreciate "Sky Blue Sky," but I imagine "Sky Blue Sky" introduced a whole new group of people to Wilco. I, for one, am glad to have them on board.

Also, I wonder if it's the new fans some of the old school fans hate or if it's the direction the band has taken that has them feeling left behind. If it's the later, one could always listen to Son Volt -- Jay is still making pretty much the same kind of music he was making back on "Anodyne" (which, in all fairness, is still some pretty good music).

    shut up !!

  5. Its for a project Im working on. Do you think he would be cool with it?

Should I try to find his house or maybe wait outside/under the bus.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    THANKS!

    :lol :lol :lol :cheers

I remember D. Boon too bro.. they are my favorite .. do you like the song "blaze" by firehose it was a partial tribute to him by fIRHOSE w/ j. mascis on lead on that song ..it brings tears to my eyes

  6. :P

Nels' pancake breakfast isn't physical pancakes - they're a state of mind. When you're ready to eat pancakes, and I mean truly ready, you won't have to pour the syrup...you'll already be eating them.

    cool man cool

  7. I am sorry it was not to designate gender just a feeling

but I would like to attend the pancake breakfast. I have had pizza with Nels at dipiazza's in Long Beach, Ca. before. he is a great dude. as well as Mike Watt.. it was a fun time ..

  8. OK, now I'm pissed! I'm not a man! :realmad

Kidding. Yeah, don't take it as bashing. Some questions just get asked on a semi-regular basis, and that's one that's sort of got a standard set of replies you're going to get. Nobody meant it personally.

    See you there. :wave

I am sorry it was not to designate gender just a feeling

  9. And I know for a fact that at least one Chicago-area firefighter will be at these shows, so ask around, maybe you two can meet up and talk shop. :)

thanks man, you are comforting, after being bashed ( im very sensitive :) )..... I will do that for sure.

  10. you'd be just as well of taking a picture in front of any 2-5 story building on Chicago's northside. I don't think they have any giant Wilco murals outside of it or anything. You'll be none the wiser.

And sadly, that picture from Down With Wilco can't be duplicated since they put a bus shelter in front of it. :ohwell

i will do that then ... my wish is your command :yes

  11. You guys make it sound as if I want to stalk Wilco. :lol :lol Thats ridiculous, its not the case at all I respect privacy just as much ..again just wanted to take a picture outside the loft with my wife and friends (tourist thing) . again I will not go according to how this forum feels about that. I am cool with that and understand indeed.

  12. That's it. Make sure you get out of your car and walk around too, and leave your doors unlocked.

ha ha funny . I am a firefighter here in LA COUNTY worked in south LA and many bad areas Im ok with that I just wanted a pic there like figure 8 in hollywood where Elliot Smith worked a lot .. sorry did not know it was sacred ground I will not go there sounds like a rough area.. sorry

  13. My wife and I are going Monday FEB 18 one day .. we are leaving L.A. to CHI. on the 17th leaving evening of the 19th.. what should I expect...i.e. weather, travel, where to stay (close)

Also one day with WILCO on this format .. what do you think?? AM, Summerteeth, Being There, YHF, GIB, SBS. is what to expect or what (uncle tupelo (tweedy) golden smog (tweedy) oh well.. just excited ...and scared to fly... :no

maybe jay farrar will join WILCO on stage .. :cheekkiss
