  1. Going to see them on Nov. 15th at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. What kind of a show do they put on? I'm sure a few of you have seen them before.

    Tks,

    TBR&R

    Expect a really great show.

I saw them live this past summer at Detroit's Cityfest. It was my first time seeing them--I was blown away! Such an explosive sound.

  2. I think the ushers did a great job. I don't know what some people were expecting. It's not like they were playing at a bar, or some small juke joint where the conditions are more lax. The ushers have to deal w/ 5000+ people--they did well maintaining control.

  3. I work with a group of music fans who have been doing Limited Edition Screenprint posters for bands that come to our area.

Capital A Prints http://www.capital-a-prints.com/ Check out some of the work.

We have had some great luck getting bands to allow us to make a poster for shows, specific to one venue on the tour.

We are located in Ohio, so we were happy to see the Wilco Columbus & Detroit dates pop up.

Anybody have a good idea of where to start with the Wilco folks to get something like this approved?

    Management? Booking?

As a long time Wilco fan, this would be an amazing band to work with.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

nice stuff. my neighbor has your Explosions in the Sky print.

  4. I think the problem is that you see them as just making arbitrary rules that they can change whenever they want. That may or may not be true, but they believe those are God's rules.

I haven't said anything about how I view them--just commenting on what they're capable of and what they've done.

  5. Exactly. And just because they don't agree with the Church doesn't mean that the Church should change its position.

Yeah, but some rules never change. You wouldn't tell your kids that they can shoot up heroin when they turn 18.

I don't think shooting heroin vs. wearing a condom (for example) is a valid comparison.

My point is: churches can and DO change (or 'reform') over time in response to the changing needs of it's congregation or various other reasons.

  6. That's the point. Why should the church change their views on something just because "everyone" thinks it's ok to do something that the church doesn't agree with. If you had a rule in your house and your kids decided not to follow it, would you then change your views on the subject to appease them?

    Would that be acceptable?

But you do change your rules as the kid grows in age and maturity, right? You tell a 5 year old that bedtime is 8pm, but would you really use that rule for a 15 year old?

  7. That's funny Venus, for some reason 3/22/03 pops in my head. Was that the last Gamehenge? Not that I listen to Phish that often but just seemed funny that you were playing 2/22/03.

There was a gamehendge 3/22/93! Maybe that's what you're thinking of?

2/22/03 was actually my 2nd show! And boy was it a doozy (doozie?). Best Tube I've ever heard.

  8. Actually more insight into the statement: "Free Spoon shows next to a half pipe is something I don't imagine happening in Detroit", is what I was requesting.

    But nevermind.

I don't know...it's in a forum created for non-wilco related music. I assumed this forum was for wilco shows only (since it's not specified as 'non-wilco'). *shrug, whatev

  9. Me and my band had the honour to open for them on a couple of dates last november in France. They blew our minds, I still can't believe it. Pass The Hatchet, I Think I'm Goodkind live is such an intense experience.

Among my best memories of those shows, was to witness the soundcheck where they did a couple of tracks from Zuma (Don't Cry No Tears and Barstool Blues). We were the only one apart from their roadies in front of them so it felt like a private gift for us.

Also my amp blew up during our soundcheck so they offered to use theirs as well as their bass amp. they are the sweetest guys.

Oh and to finish they did in one encore a cover of Sun Ra (something about nuclear bombs) I'd love to hear this again so if anyone knows which song I'm taking about, point me to the right direction please.

Nuclear War is the name of that Sun Ra song. They released 4 versions on vinyl/CD sometime in '02. I have that on my computer so expect a link soon. Sounds like you had quite an experience! I've been a fan for some years now; I expected a 'decent' show but they brought forth some serious shock and awe tactics on that stage!

  10. I just saw ylt at the tastefest in Detroit. Nothing like a sweet-ass band playing a free concert! It was my first time seeing them--AMAZING show :worship . I can't wait til they're in town again. Cheap Trick is playing tomorrow...might mosey on over to that show.
