I'd like to catch that Cleveland show.

The Replacements- Tim
Other than that, I really don't know.

At this point I'd say "You Are My Face" and "Impossible Germany" are in the upper echelon of Wilco's catalgue. I see YAMF in my top 5 eventually.

Where is this other board at?

starts on page 7.

On Summerteeth, Jeff Tweedy was experimenting with electronic pop for the sake of revealing its emptyness.
This is from an argument I'm having on another board, and I'm just curious to see what the thoughts might be from this place.
-
Either Way is a fine song by itself, but it wouldn't work half as well if it didn't have You Are My Face to follow it.
-
I think I can say that it's my second favorite Wilco right now. "You Are My Face" has really grown on me since first listen, it's probably my favorite on the album now, and without question one of the best things they've ever done.
-
I was there when they debuted "Side With the Seeds" :

What your getting at is that you want another Spiders? I think it was wise to move away from that. Plus any song over 6 mins automaticlly gets a minus in my book.
Not necessarily another Spiders. I see the studio version of Spiders as more of a mood / texture piece than an "epic jam" like I want with Shake it Off. I guess I just think the song would use another verse or something.
-
First, it should be noted that I love this track
BUT, is there anyone else here who thinks this song should be about twice as long as it is? Yes, it's already 5:35, but when I hear those big guitar slams come in after the second verse, I think it's just begging for a huge epic jam. Or even just add another verse and an explosive final chorus or something. I don't know, I really like it, but to me it has kind of an unfinished feeling. I don't think it would suffer from being any longer since it moves along at such a slow pace
Also, if it were indeed ten minutes long I think it would provide the kind of anchor / centerpiece type song which is the only thing I feel the album is lacking.

Hate It Here

Jeff goes way above what he has in the past on a lot of these vocals, how are they timid? Unless your counting the nothings on Misunderstood. I understand that it's your opinion, it just seems like a strange one considering their other material.
Yeah, the only side of the "Jeff's vocals are timid" argument I can see are that it's more timid than they are live. I mean, compare his vocals on "Side With The Seeds" to anything from YHF or AGIb.

Nels. Fucking. Cline.
(I say this as I listen to "Side With the Seeds")
-
If I have one complaint about this album as a whole it's that it doesn't feature enough of Jeff's guitar. I could have done with a bit more than that break in "You Are My Face"
-
I think in time this could prove to be my second favorite Wilco album. YHF is in my top 5 of all time, so I highly doubt they'll ever release anything that'll topple that for me.
Anyway, I think this is definitely the most "album-y" album they've released next to YHF. I find myself listening to individual tracks from Being There, Summerteeth, and A Ghost is Born rather than the whole of those albums. I can't see that happening with Sky Blue Sky, just as it never does with YHF. Everything flows so easily and fits together so well, there's not a single track you'd want to skip.
Also, I can hear bits and pieces of everything they've done up to this point in here somewhere. Like I said before it fits together like YHF, those little organ fills have me thinking of Summerteeth, "Walken" rocks like Being There, and there's a very mellow Ghost vibe floating throughout the whole thing.
I really love this.

"Impossible Germany" for me right now is the best song on the record. There's just something beautiful about it that the live versions didn't have, although I'm sure when they play it on the next tour it's going to be an absolute fucking monster.
-
Yeah, Hate It Here and What Light, despite being great songs, sport some pretty cheesy lyrics. Hate It Here's aren't so bad, even as straightforeward as they are, but What Light is taken down a notch or two once you know the words.
-
This is to Wilco's catlogue what And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out was to Yo La Tengo's
-
I think Nels shines brightest in Side With The Seeds.
-
The whole record feels "shot from the hip." If that makes sense.
I really like this description.
-
What a jerk.
As long as no one calls the record "sucky" we'll be fine.
I don't trust anyone who uses the word "sucky" in their vocabulary
-
I actually fooled people - what I sent them was Dick's Picks #2.
-
Boy Pitchfork is gonna hate this album .
Probably, but I'm not quite sure. I think they're either going to tear it to shreds or give it higher than an 8.5 Depends what side of the fence they decided to pick. With the reactions it's getting so far, I can hardly see them giving it a 7.0/whatever rating.
