  1. And yet it sounds like the reviews for the shows themselves have been great. Good energy, enthusiasm, tight playing, good banter, etc.

I guess they're playing for the 99.5% of the audience that isn't going to see every show on the tour. Not that I wouldn't love to be among that .5%.

I'm dying to hear more about the asschaps. . . .:unsure

I have to agree with previous show reviews. Fantastic show. For me, 2nd best only to the show in Dallas for Summerteeth where Jeff stagedived over my right shoulder.

Setlist was very similar to previous shows but as you said, great energy, enthusiasm, tight playing, good banter, and unplanned 2nd encore.

I think what pushed it to 2nd best show ever for me was the fact that the place was full, not sold out but full, and it seems like Houston finally has a good Wilco fanbase. Other shows that I have seen in town seemed to be more of a hands in pockets, entertain us kind of vibe. This crowd actually sang along with songs, and not just Jesus etc., clapped, cheered and seemed to have a great time. Can't wait for the recording.

  2. Question about the Tulsa show, were all tickets will call? Went through the process and never show a delivery option. Not that big of a deal but I remember for other Cain's shows their was a delivery option.

only delivery option i saw too. confirming w/front gate that my daughter will be able to pick up w/o issues.

  4. Sananguy, I couldn't agree more. More than aything I think my frustration is having to try a Wilco album "grow on me." For me, the past two albums have taken awhile to warm up to. After reading several posts in this discusion many people it seems have had to let the album "grow on them." I guess I am ready for a Wilco album to hook me right away. The way AMs Box Full of Letters made me excited for the other 10 songs or how Summerteeths Via Chicago made me love song writing. Maybe I don't get it and I am looking for too much but I can only say that I, personally, am turned off by much of studio work from this band. I guess I will have to enjoy them as I always do, live.

i've got the same feeling/impression about the new one. except for a couple of songs, at tops 4 or 5, i'm already having to look forward to the next album. i am tired of this mellowed out version of the tunes. if it weren't wilco i wouldn't even spend the time to listen to the songs. If i heard them as a 'new' band i wouldn't even be interested enough to google 'em to find out who they were. personally, i think the new son volt is definitely gonna win this round of releases.

    cheers,

  5. i think you just have to order them from musictoday in the presale

i ordered mine from musictoday in the presale but don't remember them saying 'fan club' anywhere?

can we get some clarification on this point and do the venues know what the system is?

    thanks,

  6. the artist formerly known as jim james was in full force tonite in is 'butt-less' purple sequined pants. unbelievable.

    wilco friday

    centro-matic/SSG saturday

    mmj monday

the jacket would have blown any of them off of the stage. i love wilco and think that they are an amazing live band but i think i've got to give it to mmj, at least in this round.

the new songs sounded great. definitely some falsetto action.

    cheers,

  7. ...but has anybody heard it yet?? :unsure

that's what tonite and sxsw are for.

also on kind of a related topic. just found out this morning that the jacket are now on the ILMA so i need to clear up some hard drive space or get that 2nd external that i've been talking about.

and now back to the topic...when 'at dawn' came out i was still a member on 'postcard' and remember hearing about them over and over and then going to cdnow to listen to the preview clips and just not getting into it AT ALL, and then liked the preview sounds of 'it still moves' so i bought it and have been hooked ever since. i still am not completely taken by 'z' but the other 3 studio albums are top 100 dessert island picks. and as far as live....unbelievable is all i can say.

    cheers,

  8. Holy shit, this has never happened on the internet before. Someone tabbed the amazon preview of an unreleased song. Don't get me wrong, I'm not laughing at you, I'm totally gonna try it on my guitar, more like I'm laughing at all of us.

Seriously though, has this ever happened before in the history of the world?

it's sorta like ' i can tab that song in 20 seconds or less'. i can't say that i've ever seen it done before. that is kinda cool though. maybe indicates an unhealthy level of interest but what the heck you gotta have hobbies.

  9. i am going to find it very difficult to believe that jeff will be able to pull off a show in tulsa tonite. you could tell from the first song that the voice was hurting a little bit.

he and the band gave a fantastic show despite circumstances. we got alot of the less rockin' tunes but i was extremely proud of the 'texas' audience. wherever we all came from we had the decency to shut the heck up when the man was singing.

he joked about it the entire nite and you could see alot of inter-band communication and alot of cooperation from the audience. loved the setlist. couldn't really tell what 'album' was being promoted. seemed kinda like a 'being, summer, yankee, sky blue' show with a couple thrown in from some first record that he talked about ;-)

once again i want to thank jeff and the entire band for a great time and a great show. did not see any taping rigs. hopefully, i just missed them.

    good luck tulsa!

    cheers,

  10. Yes, I am calling my answering machine with my cell phone when they hit the stage. I will be standing near the soundboard so it should sound phenomenal. I'll have it posted to either bt.etree or DaD within 48 hours. I have pasted the lineage below.

Verizon Motorola Razr --> Cell Tower 56aTulOK --> Landline 400zt --> Comcast call box --> AT&T 5.8 Digital Home Answering Machine --> TapeBuurrn Converter --> FeSilofex B-006 filter --> Roxio AP Finder -->Upload

will wilco let you patch your cellphone in so we could get a 'soundboard' recording for this show?

  11. I hear a bit of Steely Dan in that one (as in SD when they were still rocking), and that aint a bad thing.

you must mean before michael mcdonald ruined them exactly the way he ruined the doobie brothers. sorry, i know i need to get over it but you brought it up.

    cheers,
