  1. I guess I was a bit surprised that they decided to finish off with Hoodoo Voodoo (and the return of the shirtless roadie!) in this venue of all places. But it was fun, as always, giving the hometown boy one more chance to shine and sending the audience off into the night with smiles all around. And isn't that the point, in the end? :thumbup

Hoodoo Voodoo (w/ bass/guitar/keyboard tech Josh on cowbell)

was that a fake 'stache the shirtless roadie was wearing or was it the real thing?

  2. It really can go both ways.

Usually the crowd is encouraged to get on their feet midway through the main set by the band if they already aren't there. There is always a lot of talk on this board about standing vs sitting...

Good news for Jackson: It is a Saturday night (people typically let loose a little more) and I have a ticket in the front row and will be standing (domino effect).

Good to know, thanks for the reply. We're 7th row dead center so I'm glad you're standing. I haven't read this board in years but posted here some back in the day.

  3. Hey all, I'm a longtime fan and have seen Wilco 8 times but never in a theater with assigned seating. I have a silly question - do folks actually stay seated or do most folks stand? Just curious as I'll be seeing them in Jackson next month and kinda wanted to know what to expect. I can't imagine sitting through an entire Wilco show.

  4. Two cool bars close to Tips that should be fun for some pre-show drinkin'.

First if Miss Mae's which is open 24 hours a day, on the corner of Napoleon and Magazine.

The other is 45 Tchoup...never actually been here, but I hear it's cool. Down the street from Tips on Tchoupitoulas.

    Word.

Igor's Budha Belly is on the other corner of Napoleon and Magazine and is another cool bar to stop in for a pre-show drink.

  5. i was just doing the math and out of 28 total songs there were only 12 repeats from the night before. that's a good sign for folks (like me) attending both nights of the 2 night stand at Tips!!

  6. Is it just me, or did it look like he only decided to play Someone Else's Song after some goofball starting yelling for Moonshiner?

Didn't hear the goofball but it did seem like a very spontaneous decision. I didn't see anywhere in other recent set lists where he played off pa mid set, although I was expecting it at the end. My assumption was that he did it in an attempt to quiet the talkers. Speaking of goofball requests some idiot shouted "Who Let the Dogs Out" and Tweedy responded with "um, that's not my song but if it was I'd play the shit out of it" or something to that effect. Funny stuff.

By the way, I'm not a cherry ghost. I've lurked here off and on and even posted once in a blue moon for years now but for some reason I had to re-register recently. I've seen Wilco at least 10 times over the years but never had the opportunity to see Tweedy solo. Friday night will definitely go down as one of the best shows I've seen by anyone.
