  1. It took you THIS LONG to ask for a few measly pennies????

    You're a Saint, Jesse.

For those that don't know, Jesse has a green light from Jeff for all Wilco (and related) video. Also has a green light from Jeff AND Jay for all Uncle Tupelo video.

    He's fighting the good fight.

Pony up folks, it's about time.

  2. Yea, I picked it up this evening without a flaw and it sounds great :music . After you download it, go out and buy "For What I Don't Become". It's phenomenal and these guys deserve a wider audience. They will be touring with Grand Champeen and the Drams in the near future.

And Two Cow Garage. Don't leave out 2Cow. Them's some good rockin' boys.

  3. Pretty sure Wilco fans will dig them or I wouldn't have posted. Especially if you like the early stuff.

The surge on the website brought it down for a while, so I offered to mirror them in case it happens again.

Catch them when they tour, buy a shirt and a CD. These guys have to get off work to tour.

  4. Dear Sarah,

If you learned nothing from the old videos of Jeff playing bass, I'm sure he'd tell you:

    1. Wear a dress.

    2. In the absence of a dress (oops) wear shorts and Chuck Taylor high tops.

    3. Never date the drummer. (Maybe he wouldn't say that, but it's still good advice.)

    4. Where are the jumps????

As an old bass player myself, I'd say you're doing great, but where are the jumps?

    Kinda catchy.

  5. Some friends of mine, Glossary, from Murfreesboro, TN are self-releasing their new record "The Better Angels of Our Nature" today and it's FREE!!!

Grab it from the bands website:

    http://www.glossary.us/the-better-angels-o...e-free-download

This is a really, really good record (I've had it since May) and a contender for record of the year. If you like rock and roll or rockin' country with some pedal steel and great harmonies, grab it!!!

If you really like it, buy it Oct. 23rd from the band. They're only doing a limited pressing with each 200 having a different cover. Pretty cool stuff and great, great people.

    GO GET IT!!!!!

  6. These videos are so excellent! Keep 'em coming! :thumbup

Thanks. I'm just trying to create an overview of the band and feature "landmark" moments. I sort of started from both ends and will fill in the middle, but most of that stuff is more common. Won't bother with TV stuff or videos, since it's already on the Tube, so I'll stick with live shows for the "greatest hits". Probably a lot of covers to show their influences too. A YouTubumentary?

    Dunno.

  7. dude, these videos are national treasures. Thanks for sharing.

Not sure I'd go that far, but they do have some historical significance. This would be Uncle Tupelo's first TV appearance on some STL access channel.

Mississippi River Center Benefit Show, May 1989.

  8.

Thanks for pulling that up. I wasn't going to repost any of it but was getting a huge amount of hits, so I checked here and sure enough, a new thread. I am adding some new stuff and closing down the urFlick site, so I was going to let everyone know when it was all on YouTube, Sarah just beat me to it.

No book, but I did talk to Jo a couple months before she died about a documentary. Since Eileen had already gone, it wasn't doable in it's form (at that time). After Jo left us, I haven't really revisited it. I'm not sure it could work with just Darlene left. We did have a great talk about the French Village show I just posted. You betcha, she was there. In B'ville, it's all about the Moms.

She thought it was so cool that the headliners played one of Jeff's songs. In fact, his first (that's me with the wicked mullet on the right):

  9. You guys are quick. :worship Most of those just went up last night. Thanks Sarah!

First song UT ever played (under that name) is up too, "Good Times":

I'll be adding a few more as I get to them, so just check this playlist:

or check my YouTube channel link in my sig.

FTR, that's me in the video with Jeff in a dress. For a very brief period, I was the fifth Primitive (aka BloodyMan).

    enjoy!

  10. Anyway exactly what do you mean when you say you don't like BT for DVDs until someone comes up with verification for them, are you talking about making sure file integrity is maintained during the transfer of files?

Exactly. If you look at a DVD's file structure, you'll see .IFO, .BUP and .VOB files. The .BUP files are unnecessary and the IFO files are very small. The VOB files contain all the video/menus etc. As long as the IFO files are complete, you can burn a "working" disc regardless of having the complete VOB files (they will look complete but might be missing data). When you start a torrent file, it creates files that are the "complete" size (1 GB usually), then fills it in with 256k pieces. It's way too easy to miss a few pieces. When you miss those pieces, it creates artifacts (the blocky things), thus degrading the original. Do it a couple times and you've got a worthless DVD. Jesse works too hard on them to wreck 'em, so I stick to burning from the original and mailing them out.

I learned this the hard way and almost wrecked my share ratio on dime trying to DL DVDs. I once DL'ed over 10GBs for one regular 4GB DVD and still was missing one (256kb) piece. It was weird, it would say that it was complete, then the next time I started up my client, I'd go back to leeching. Just not worth it in my book. It needs some sort of wrapper that can be verified and right now that's not out there.

    chris

  11. aha

    Did you film that stuff?

Ever consider putting it up on a Bittorrent site?

I filmed the Son Volt stuff and did a lot of the stuff on Okemah. I don't like BT for DVDs until someone comes up with a verification for them.

Here's The Primitives doing Smoking Gun (or Do We Care?, depending on who you ask). You'll recognize it as what would become "Outdone":
