  1. That sounds pretty good to me. You're right about ending on Em.

I haven't got voicings that sound exactly right yet but the underlying chords sound like this to me (all relative to capo, of course):

    Em Em(maj7) Em7 A7 Cmaj7 Am7 Em Em(maj7) Em7 A7

The outro is the same but shorter:

    Em Em(maj7) Em7 A7

I forget the last chord but I'm assuming it ends on Em?

  2. Building on what's already been posted here and adding corrections. More corrections welcome!

  3. Looking through again, another thing:

    Cmaj7 Am

One Wing will never ever fly

    G

    Neither yours nor mine

    Cmaj7 should be D

And while Asus2 sounds fine too, I do prefer the A straight to it. A7 also sounds fine in that slot too, but in general my hunch is that the major third should be voiced.

So you would replace all Cmaj7 in the chorus with D?

  4. On the choruses, you've flipped the Cmaj7 and the Ams. Also, the last chorus is actually different, in that instead of Cmaj7 leading it off, it plays an A chord, so it looks like

    A Am
One wing will never ever fly, dear

and the rest of it looks fine. I theoretically have some sort of way of playing the bridges but I know they're not really right. I suppose when finals are done I can look into it

I wouldn't bother trying to 2s4s2, I just do 2h4p2, it's much simpler, and the gist of it is there.

I agree that the hammer/pull is easier than the slide...good call. I'll take another whack at the chords with the changes you suggest.

  5. If you're playing Capo 3, the little slide/fill between stanzas is something like

    G]-2/-4/-2p-0

    D]-----------2

Which would of course harmonize with a higher bit if playing with though guitars, but on its own it sounds pretty good.

I think you're right on this except for the D string...I think the fill is all on the G string and then straight into the next chord. I'm finding this slide tough with the Capo on 2...while playing acoustic the sound is dying by the time I get to the 4th fret and head back to the 2nd. Any pointers or do I just need new strings and/or an electric guitar?

  6. Old live version is capo 5 with those chord formations (though I play Cmaj7 instead of C), but on the record, if you've heard it, it's capo 2.

*I've edited this since the original post to include suggestions by others*

So then the Capo 2 version would be something like:

    Em G* x2

    Em G*
    We belonged to a bird
    Em G*
Who cast his shadow on this world
    Cmaj7 Am
You were a blessing and I was a curse
    Am G Cma7*
I did my best not to make things worse, for you
    Em G*
    It isn't true
    Em G*
I always knew this would be our fate
    Cma7 Am
This is what happens when we separate
    Am G Cma7*
This is what happens to all dead weight, eventually
    Em G*
We may as well be made of stone
    Em G
    We can't be formed

    Cmaj7 Am
One Wing will never ever fly
                     G
    Neither yours nor mine
                           Cmaj7*
I fear we can only wave goodbye

    Em G* x2
    Cmaj7

    Cmaj7 Am
One Wing will never ever fly
                     G
    Neither yours nor mine
    D

    Cmaj7 Am
One Wing will never ever fly dear
                     G
    Neither yours nor mine
                           Cmaj7
I fear we can only wave goodbye

    Asus2 Am
One Wing will never fly dear
                     G

                           Cmaj7*
I fear we can only wave goodbye

    end on Em

The little fill after each chord where you see an asterisk * goes like:

    G]-2/-h4/-p2-0

When you play the D chord, it's nice to hammer on the high E to get that 2 to 3 movement...see acoustic Panthers (Proving Death Again) for what I'm talking about...

  8. Are the chords in Capo 5 the same as what is posted here for Capo 8? The Bb C part doesn't sound quite right to me on the "inside of you" part.

I've been playing this, like a previous poster suggests, with no Capo and just playing G, C and D with an Eb/F slide for the "inside of you part." However, I know Jeff plays this with Capo 5. Can someone help me out?

It's going to be capo5 from now on, pretty much.
