  1. The band? They were great. I was very, very happy to hear "Cars Can't Escape". I've heard it live twice in a month now, and that will never, ever happen again.

But - and I'm sure a part of it was just because of where I was standing - I felt that a fair portion of the audience was downright rude. I will never understand going to a concert just to drink and chat with your friends. I kept waiting for Jeff to tell people to shut up, but it didn't happen. Why talk right through a song? Obviously they are going to be performing some slower songs, so why complain about it?

But there's still four more chances for audience awesomeness.

  2. I'm driving down solo from SE Wisconsin each day and would really like to at least have someone to stand in line with! There's nothing more boring to me than standing in a concert line alone. I'll be the short blonde girl in a brown coat reading a book. Or PM and we'll figure out something ahead of time!

What time are people planning on starting to stand in line? (I am not looking forward to the cold!)

  3. The guy who said that felt like a total ass afterwards. It seemed like such an obvious joke and that Jeff had somehow missed it. After I blurted it out, he said he had even written it on the set list. I felt really bad about stepping on his line. :frusty Idiot.

Nah! (I'm the girl who was next to you.) It was funny and you know he likes to give the audience a hard time.

Besides, at least you weren't the one who broke the parking garage! (Sorry, people, sorry! Now I'm afraid the cops are going to show up at my door or something.)

  4. I've heard "Roses" at Chipotle (a bit baffled, but it made my night - from what I've read it's not an uncommon song for them to play), and a few weeks ago I was in Pick 'n Save and "Impossible Germany" came on. Yep, I was the dork who did her shopping singing along, totally thrilled that there was Wilco on at the grocery store.

  5. Has anyone gotten the presale email from Wilcoworld (for the five-day pass presale on Ticketbastard)? I emailed in four hours ago and haven't gotten a response. Or is it the same as the WXRT password given out on their member site?

    Thanks!!

  6. I was front row on Pat's side, in front of the speakers - like people have said, the sound wasn't great, but the atmosphere was a thousand times better than it was in Madison. I had a great view and some very nice folks around me. I was especially pleased with "Hesitating Beauty" and all the "Being There" stuff and Jeff doing "Someone Else's Song" without PA was a treat.

I would love to have this show but can't sign up on the torrent site. If someone could toss it up elsewhere or file transfer it to me over AIM, I'd be more than happy to pay it forward or trade something I might have. meebs0619 AT gmail is my addy. Thanks!

  7. I was in the second row of the first balcony and had an excellent view - mostly because the folks around me weren't standing up and dancing. I appreciated this, because I like to be able to see the stage and usually there's tall people around blocking my view. The crowd down on the floor seemed to be having a really good time, which was fun to watch. Sad we missed out on a couple songs due to the curfew, though, and I would have liked to see more Dr. Dog as well. But the sound was great (except for the guys who wouldn't shut up behind me).

I'm glad I grabbed a ticket to the Eagles Ballroom show next month. It'll be great to see the band in two very different venues. (I went to Summerfest a few years ago and it just wasn't worth it, but the Minus 5 show I caught in Chicago in 2003 was one of the best I'll probably ever see - second row, surprise Wilco showing, fantastic Tweedy.)
