  1. Only variation from the printed setlist was the first encore, Hoodoo Voodoo replaced Late Greats. Guitar duel on Hoodoo was even more amazing than usual, Nels & Pat did Chuck Berry duckwalks at each other while jeff backed off looking afraid like "I don't wanna get in the middle of this", it was awesome. Hilarious banter about the usher staff, an elderly lady was really into her job hassling people smoking pot and/or taking pictures in the first few rows, Jeff dubbed her Mrs Doubtfire which was bang-on how she looked and remarked how he'd never had to tell the venue staff to settle down before, the usher on the other side had some super-fine looking wavy long hair and Jeff called him Barry Gibb while the whole band cracked up, it was freakin priceless. After I'm Always In Love Jeff gave happy birthday props to Nate the drum tech and led the crowd in a happy birthday singalong, a girl in the crowd passed up a happy birthday hat mounted on a pink hairband that Jeff then wore for Magazine (Nate's birthday request) then it was passed around to each band member over the next 5 songs. Nels wore it like a tie under his chin and Pat wore it on his arm like a "birthday pirate". Jeff said it was their first time playing Hartford and the crowd was really good and they should come back "more often than....never". For the guys smoking pot up front there was a pointed "roll another number for the SHOW", cracking the band up again, and Jeff got right up to them during Jesus and when they were too stoned to sing along properly made a toking gesture with his fingers to lips and rolled his eyes, the guy is funnier than most comedians I've seen.

Just an incredible show, I mean THAT'S NOT THE ISSUE!!!!! Been out since last Sunday in Providence and seen 61 unique songs out of 147 in 4 shows (not counting Easter Bunny or Happy Birthday), can't think of a better way to spend a week. HUGE thanks to the crew member who met us hanging around the box office ticketless this afternoon and hooked us up with front row centre and even thanked us for travelling so far to see the band, I say THANK YOU WILCO for an incredible week and 4 dynamite shows, can't wait to do it again, what a band, what a tour. So sad to be going home in the morning.

For the detail oriented Jeff had on a Chicago Police t-shirt that said terrorism on it, maybe a special unit? And white American Eagle tennis shoes kinda like those canvas Converse high tops, with colourful trim around the ankle. The rainbow SG never appeared neither did the dobro-looking thing. Just trying to fill in while bbop takes a night off :)

Thanks for the great review. You hit all of the key highlights. Mrs. Doubtfire was the best. I nearly dropped when I heard Magazine. Got to see the 4 NE Shows and each one had its unique, fabulous features with variations in songs, guitars, footwear and banter. So many rares -

  2. Just got back from work (long day!) and was telling Ricky I thought it was a little bit of an odd vibe too. I wondered if it was a little to do with the no drinks allowed inside though the woman Paul described sure looked tanked enough. It was VERY warm in there too. Our friend asked for Cars for the Boston show and we were very excited to hear that. My daughter was with me and she had a great time and was so grateful to see such a show. We felt bad for the guy Jeff pointed to and said something to the effect hat 'you cant clap anymore' and 'I found him' though he tried to be polite saying"i'm sure your a great guy, but..." He went on saying how the band had "soldiered through," but it wasn't easy etc etc It was hilarious, along with the gig on how to talk like a New Englander. assume they will drive through "Wis-tah' on he way to "Haht-fud"

  3. We'll be there!

I don't know about the area but we were just at Lupo's a few months ago to see Dr Dog. It's a small, intimate venue unlike anything I've ever been able to see Wilco in. It's no Cicero's, Lounge Ax or Double Door but ya know, it'll do... :thumbup

Rick and I will be there we live pretty close to this venue supposed to be great weather check out Thayer Street, Wickendon for the best coffee shop will be great to see old friends

  4. I think there are other threads on this...Analogman wil find them.

What do you say to anyone?? How are you doing, nice show, thanks for being here, I dig your music, can you sign my album, come to my house for dinner, marry my daughter....

Sadly, you might say something like, "You're Jeff Tweedy"

  5. I don't see how Jeff being upset leads to calls of banning photography. Although, it should not really surprise me. I don't recall ever seeing anyone complain when someone posts the photos they took at a show, usually people ask for more. If you get into some deal with a professional, then you are going to get into the issue of people snagging the photos and posting them all over the place. Which, we will get someone in trouble somewhere. I still really think he got upset due to so many people creating a ruckus, and people filming. I have not been to a Wilco shows in about 4 years, but I don't recall such things going on at the shows I was at. I guess things have changed.

I agree. I take a lot of pics at shows, but I really do try not be a bother to anyone. I am certain, beyond a doubt, that at shows we went to on our recent Wilco the Vacation last summer, he was totally POSING for us and getting a kick out of it. But we were in positive situations with great crowd vibe and great crowd involvement in the shows. I take pics because it is a hobby that brings me a lot of joy (which I sure need given my day job). I even take good shots at times and have generally found people have fun looking at them, because we love the band and the shows and friends we've made at the shows (I like taking crowd shots from the balcony when I can). I would feel badly if I ever offended the band or caused someone else's experience to be affected. I try to be patient with the people who push me, talk while I am listening and text through the shows, but of course they annoy me and I suppose I might be annoying people without realzing it. I think Jeff seems annoyed a lot when people don't seem to be into the music, whatever it is they are doing, and when whatever it is they are doing is affecting others' experince of the music.

I am glad I saw this though so I'll leave the camera home for Chicago shows.

  6. We drove down from Toronto (what gives with no Toronto show on this tour?). Had a geat time at the show. Art Park really is the oddest venue I've seen. I didn't find the sound too bad on the lawn until closer to the end of the show when it just sounded like the house system was starting to get maxed out.

Thanks again to the really nice couple who gave us a pair of Row "O" aisle seats. The 6 of us that made the trip from Toronto had a blast splitting time between our lawn homebase and the action inside.

the border was murder. If the show hadn't been so good I might have actually regretted making the trip. I always thought the Queenston/Lewiston bridge was the less busy of the two in Niagara Region, but apparently I stand corrected.

Great to hear you enjoyed the seats Good Wilco karma Rick and I are driving

  8. Here is a link to a few pics I took. I confess I stashed my camera during the downpour and was hoping Paul's made it home intact . As others have said, I felt like the band just always confirms for me why I love em so much - coming back out for that encore - the rain was really cascading onto parts of the stage and they were seriously stomping in puddles and as Lou said, very risky. They are good to their fans as they can be, every time. All 5 of us who went together just kept saying how completely on they were. JT was smiling a lot. Many great memories and great to see all the fans who travel to see Wilco, we have been lucky to meet so many great people along the way.

Over us the band rocked it out and were sooo on sometimes

you have to be grateful for qualitu if u can,t ghet quantity

Wow, one more reason not to like the guy.....but it could have been that no one talked to him about a shorter set and he just went with the program.

Sorry to hear this show was cut short. I would loved to have been there. Lowell is an interesting town. You guys in the northeast are getting some crappy weather this year, that's for sure.

  12. Hi Zebra and all our Wilco pals - waiting to hear from my step-daughter who attended - a Dead Head and did not know Wilco well (aging me for sure)!. Anyhow, Rick and I have been at a couple of shows with venue insisting on symphonay behavior, which sucks. But great to hear Wilco fans REBEL. We saw a shgw in VT where they actually told people that dancing was not allowed, no standing up etc. and the entire group stood and danced whole show -TWAS pretty funny. I told Michael J after another show, and he was LOL about it.

I wish I had been able to go - wanted to badly, but could not - really looking forward to pix !!!! Sounds like it was a gr4eat show

    Thanx for the thread!
