  1. Great show. I was on the 1st balcony not far from 'pitt hookah' the thread starter.

A couple d-bags were present yelling inappropriate things at inappropriate times. "Shawn thinks you're gay" exclaimed one obviously drug addled degenerate (who went on to clap loudly and randomly throughout the night). I'm a proud Pittsburgh native and he is not representative of our overall crowd for you non-locals that drove in for the show.

This is the first show I've caught on this tour (7th overall) and it was the best so far I think. Stage wise I loved the tublar computer controlled incandescent lighting. The lamps during the semi acoustic set were also wonderful.

My favorite banter moment was when Jeff read the Dinette gift certificate winner (awesome place BTW) and the song he requested on the website. "....and the song you choose was Impossible Germany......great choice.....like we weren't playing that anyways" or something to that effect.

Some nice show reviews are up today

I'm counting down the days till Solid Sound. Any other Pittsburgher's going?

  2. I guess I could be considered a "lurker" since I never post on this forum (maybe I just have nothing to say). Regardless I had to reply to this post though.

I spent a good half hour reading everything I could about this new product when I heard about it earlier. Absolutely mind bending technology. Tried to get my girlfriend excited about it to no avail. At least somebody out there found it as interesting as I did.

Crazy how it can coat actual glass as well with no visible differences. Glass coating glass, the future is here! :hyper

  3. Anybody else not able to see the gigapan anymore? The "view full screen" or whatever it said is now missing on my end.

I tried to bring it up this morning to show that radio to my girlfriend. I've got the same piece of kit! I also saw those Wilco toy trucks recently at a collectables show. They are new pieces that make sounds and light up if I remember correctly. I didn't have the cash to drop on them unfortunately.

  4. Washington, huh? you ever go to pancake?

you're referring to the skating rink i presume? went to a few birthday parties up there when i was little. not many times other than that, my sense of balance is horrible and i love not having broken wrists. you frequented it much?

since you seem to know washington i'd like to give a shout out to SHORTY'S and OSSO'S!

also, terrible towels have suddenly become even more of a hot commodity in southwestern pa.

  5. I'll be there (not that anyone really knows who I am).

Hi, my name is Chris. I live about 1/4 mile from the venue. I think it's cool as hell that I get to see one of my favorite bands at the local high school.

I skimmed over the responses thusfar and my only suggestion is that the Melt will be a long wait and it takes forever to get your food.

If you want a good beer selection and a decent atmosphere without the wait try the Winking Lizard Tavern. It's right on Detroit Ave straight up Bunts (140th).

I suggest this since it is extremely close to the venue and probably will be where I'm at when I get out of work.

Feel free to ask more Lakewood questions, hopefully my two years here will help. Johnny Mango's is a good choice but it's on the other side of Lakewood.

chris, no one knows me either! hah

i appreciate the info on winking lizard. just checked out their site and it looks good to me. i'm not about to miss the band opening with radio cure just because my grilled cheese was running late. http://www.winkinglizard.com/data/content/lakewood.asp

you live 1/4 mile from the show? thats sick. is the band stopping by for coffee?

also speaking of odd venues did anyone see the two days prior to the latrobe show at west virginia university? its the smallest room i've seen them in plus it didn't start until 9 or 10 or something weird like that. they called it the "evening with wilco show".

  6. Just out of curiosity, how many of you were at the Latrobe, PA, show in October, 2006?

i'm a sucker for melted cheese. thanks for the heads up on melt, i'll hit GLB next time.

i was also at latrobe and pittsburgh last year. both pretty lame venues in my opinion but better seeing them in gymnasiums rather than not at all.

  7. Can't our love for Wilco transcend the Cleveland/Pittsburgh thing? :rolleyes I'm from the Cleveland area I don't dislike Pittsburgh. Of course I am not a serious sports fan, so that could have something to do with it. ;)

Great show! Looking forward to hearing it, thanks for taping it Anodyne33!!

Thanks to Jeff for taking the time to talk to all of us afterward, even though his sammich was waiting for him. He even took the time to sign two things for me (one for my usual traveling companion, my sister, who couldn't make it this time whaaa )

Does anyone know what the problem was about the dancing? Was security really preventing people from dancing? I was seriously hoping everyone would move the chairs out of the way and create a general area, but then I realized the chairs were all bolted together. That would have taken some serious organizing (and tools...)! :)

The love for Wilco does transend the Burgh Cleveland rivalry. No offense to you and your native roots intended. :)

Honestly I've been to Cleveland numerous times and I kind of like it. It just always amuses me what football means to some fans in this town. I'm not even a huge football fan byself but I love how this town follows that team.

Glad somebody knows what that dancing thing was about. I was on the floor just to the right of the dancer and I still couldn't figure out what the heck was going on. It was amusing though.

  8. I was worried there wasn't a taper at the show. I looked around but didn't see any mics sticking up. Glad to hear it sounds good, can't wait to download it.

Felt bad that Tweedy wasn't aware of Pittsbughs animosity towards Cleveland. He thought we were cheering for them! Hahah.

    Great show.
