Great venue- very small, good acoustics, and nice people working there. $4 mixed drinks, $3 beers and they let you take them back to your seats- I felt so trusted (and trustworthy, of course).
I would have liked to see the crowd standing more during the main set, but they were appreciative either way.

anyone else find it amusing that they're playing the same day as Foo Fighters (who Jeff spoke ill of at various shows after the Grammys)?

just a taste (30 seconds) of shot in the arm:
shot from the (non-standing) front row of the Loge with my kid's digital- still not too bad.
also some pix from the show (not very good ones) followed by some from Red Bank last year (much better, due to 4th row seats): http://www.flickr.com/photos/16860765@N02/

The sky fell over cheap Korean monster-movie scenery
And spilled into the mezzanine of the crushed capsule hotel
Between the Disney abattoir and the chemical refinery
And I knew I was in trouble but I thought I was in hell
Death wears a big hat 'cause he's a big bloke

The Hold Steady tonight in Philly.

I had tickets in 1977 but Robert Plant's son died and the rest of the tour was cancelled. Looking back, I regret sending my $9 ticket back for a refund.
Funny, I still have mine from Philly- I couldn't get a refund for some reason.
Want to buy one?

The Clash- Sept. 7-8, 1982- Boston Orpheum Theater- recorded as part of "From Here to Eternity" live album. Joe Strummer went into the crowd one of those nights to fight a security guard. Kinda crazy show.
U2- Boston Orpheum Theater- 1982?- Bono climbed into the balcony- I thought those boys were going to be big...
Live Aid- JFK stadium- 1985- It was a long hot day.
The Who- Philly Spectrum- 12/11/79- General Admission show just a week after the Cincinnati show. No one got hurt at this one.
Replacements- Philly Tower Theater-1989- sitting in the front row of the balcony with our feet on the rail, we got yelled at by someone in the band (can't remember who).
Pearl Jam- Red Rocks, Colorado - 1995?- any show at Red Rocks is great, but with Pearl Jam it's amazing. Part of their Screw Ticketmaster tour of the west.
The Hold Steady- Chameleon Club, Lancaster, PA- OK no one is impressed now, but I swear in a few years...
BTW, if anyone is going to the Hold Steady show in Philly next week, I heard the venue got changed to the TLA.
and finally, Bruce Springsteen- 1980-2007- way too many times to admit. Eddie Vedder came out and did Better Man with the band one night in NJ (2004).

Thanks everyone- quite a range of opinions. Based on the thread, I'll have to take a fistful of old Steve Earle CDs in the car with me tomorrow- it's been awhile since I've listened to him.
I'll have to say the Tom Waits cover was very disappointing.

Has anyone heard the new Steve Earle album? I haven't checked it out and was wondering what people thought of it.
Thanks!

Just joined the board- nice to see there are some Bruce fans around here. I saw the 2 shows in Philly this weekend and Reason to Believe was definitely worth the drive (though I wasn't coming from Canada).
Rumor has it they'll be back next year, so I expect Florida will get their shows.

I was right in front of the very enthusiastic celery crowd. Here's some video I shot last night, since there seems to be some controversy over Misunderstood
Moderator edit: Wilco doesn't allow videotaping of their shows, so direct links to audience videos are not permitted on Via Chicago
Poster's Edit: Sorry about that- thanks for letting me know.
