I would really like Bon Iver, except for Vernon's voice. Can't explain it, as I like MMJ and others with some higher register stuff. I like the lyrics, the arrangements, the playing itself on Bon Iver songs, but I keep on thinking many of the songs would be better served with a good female vocalist, almost as if written for a woman's voice and instead we get Justin. I even like his 'normal' voice, like in parts of Skinny Love.

Had fun with this mix, flows pretty well I think. Maybe not as indie or oldie centric as some of the great ones from last year, but hope it's fun for some folks.

Went 'themed' on this one; have been a lurker here - I know many of you will have some of these songs but probably not all of them. Mediafire didn't seem to want to keep the songs in order so the order is in each song's filename.
Tell me if the link doesn't work right, first time uploading with mediafire.

so...
let's resurrect this thread, huh? get a new round going? anyone?
I'd definitely be up for it; love exploring new music and introducing other folks to it. Should we start a new thread for it ?

I didn't see as many 'big' stadium/amphitheatre shows last year as usual but saw a lot of club shows.

2) Amanda Palmer ArtsCenter, Carrboro, NC
3) Jenny Lewis (DeerTick) Cats Cradle, Carrboro, NC
4) Gov't Mule, Lincoln Theatre Street, Raleigh, NC

Missed the presale and life forced us to miss the 40 minute window when tickets were available. Anyone able to help, please email bourbonstew@gmail.com.
Thanks.

I see them every chance I get around NC. Caught them last week with Rusted Root in Raleigh, outdoor show by the Lincoln Theatre. Good dynamic between husband and wife, vocally, many songs a change on the power trio with her on the keyboard. I enjoy both the high energy songs and the ones with a "creeped out" (according to a friend) vibe, like the Stayin' Alive cover they do.

"No trophy, no flowers, no flashbulbs, no wine,
He's haunted by something he cannot define.
Bowel-shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse,
Assail him, impale him with monster-truck force."

I've enjoyed some Sunset Rubdown, Spencer Krug's side band while he was doing Wolf Parade. Mt Desolation had one of my favorite albums of 2010, side project of Keane, among others in the band.
