That's the problem. They really haven't had the edge that separates adult easy listening from edgier rock/pop since AGIB.

Hmm. I thought it was mediocre.

Murray Street only proves that Jim O'Rourke improves everything.

That show is terrible. Almost as bad as Fallon.

Nothing I'm too excited about... I mean, I'm still really excited... but none of the songs, or the ideas, or anything I've heard has been anything I feel will be a career standout. Or a song I will grow really attached to like I have on the past offerings. I'm hoping this album will be a new direction, but based on the songs I'm really not sure how that could be. I'll probably still listen to it 500 times.
The band lineup since after Ghost just hasn't been making stuff interesting. Nels... I don't care about that guy. Honestly, he has never impressed me, ever. As in, I don't care for his guitar lines and all that and the music he makes. I mean, I know he gets a lot of hype around here and oh my God he's a virtuoso and so and so but he isn't doing anything for me. And as for the live show I don't really like what he plays over older songs. Just... no impact for me.
But I just sort of wish there were a big change in the band. Or maybe a new Loose Fur record.

Anti-sign.

I hate his movies.

The first live show ended a while back.
It finally happened. Wilco covered Radiohead. Jeff sang Fake Plastic Trees, making this comment beforehand: "this is going to be like Paul Rodgers fronting Queen."

spacey, upbeat in parts as well as good introspective tracks, pop tracks as well as rock tracks. something like the wilco book version of hummingbird would be great. an actual electronically based song instead of using electronics just for texture would be cool. ghost style as opposed to sky blue style guitar. lots of kotche.
but hopefully a few things that will surprise me.
and also o'rourke leaving his mark all over would be wonderful.

Fantasy world: After a successful tour Ed O'Brien invites Jeff Tweedy and co. back to Radiohead's private studio where Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood are hanging out and they all casually bang out the best album of 2009.

I actually really like the instrumental tracks on that soundtrack. The rest of it is pretty disposable though, especially the awful version of "The Lonely One".
I like that version a lot more than the BT version. The atmosphere is really nice.

Yeah, I can definitely see the YHF demos comparison.
It definitely sounded like that era, maybe even like Summerteeth a little bit. I liked it even more than the other new songs, I think.
Good stuff.
I hope a video/mp3 pops up soon!

My God. The song really is called Wilco.

Jeff is such a cool customer in the interview.
He should have his own show.
-
Not sure if anyone has seen it yet. Pretty funny.

Sorry, do I have to put up a huge warning before I say anything I think?
WARNING THIS IS MY OPINION PLEASE DO NOT BE OFFENDED. ALSO PLEASE OBSERVE THAT EVERYTHING I POST THAT ISN'T EXPLICITLY STATED AS OPINION IS BELIEVED BY ME TO BE UNALTERABLE FACT.
I wouldn't want you guys to react with hurt feelings and insults as though our conflicting statements can't co-exist.
(Twang is corny and stale.)

Twang is annoying.
AM is not a good album.

I didn't know right-wing nutjob Victoria Jackson wrote Jeff's lyrics... weird.

also, maybe I'm painting with a broad brush (I could see how people could find SBS boring, but..) but is it so hard for the SBS dislikers to find beauty in something that isn't "innovative"?
I can find beauty in simple songs.
SBS's songs just weren't as good as Wilco's other post-BT songs.
It's still a pretty good album. But I'd like it if their next album wasn't in the same vein (I don't think it will be).

I guess I was alone in thinking One Wing was stronger than most of SBS? Even if it is in the same vein.
I can't be the only one who thinks

Chiming in to say I dislike Nels. He's never done anything that interested me all that much. I like it better when Jeff plays lead.
Jim O'Rourke and Jeff Tweedy need to be shackled together. Wilco can afford to lose like half of its members. Hell, just do another Loose Fur album or something.
