Been listening, and it sounds incredible, the band sounds invigorated! One Wing next!

So this is a thread about Wilco? Really? Really?
That's what I was thinking, even though it's about the song "Country" I don't think it applies to being about the band.
-
I think it still holds up as their best live work, I had to comment because their cover of If All Men Are Truly Brothers has been popping up on my ipod lately and I have to admit what a great job they do on that song. Best versions of The Late Greats, Hell Is Chrome and a very nice Poor Places/Spiders transition as well.

That video is pretty cool, I have to say that's probably my favorite version of Handshake now with that slow sort of eerie minimal fadeout. That AGIB/post YHF lineup was sort of interesting in their approach, must go looking for some shows.

The only thing I've ever seen about this is from Wikipedia:
"Leroy Bach left the band immediately after the album's completion to join a music theatre operation in Chicago"

Exactly, you have to find a version where they just tear it up, I discovered a version from the Tanglewood show in 08 like this. It really gained a lot of energy as a live song as compared to the recording, and I think that's why people enjoy it so much. It's just a really fun song (albeit with strange lyrics).

I was finally able to find it at a Wegmans grocery store today, it was partially hidden but Jeff just has one of those faces you know haha.

Everything's been all quiet on this show since it happened, any idea if a recording has emerged anywhere?
-
I know he's used other Wilco songs on his other shows, but if anyone saw tonight's episode much kudos to Daly, he used a crapload of their songs in a segment interviewing these cooks. He used at least 6 or 7 pieces of songs including ELT, Muzzle of Bees, Pot Kettle Black, At Least That's What You Said and Side With The Seeds.

Didn't someone say it was from the Tanglewood gig that was in the Roadcase for a while?
-
I think all in all I'd just take another Wilco show in my area as soon as possible!

I actually requested Candyfloss on the website figuring it had no shot to be played and am surprised it even made the setlist. Anyway, this was my second ever Wilco show after Rochester last year and this was probably my favorite of the two though it's close. It was nice to hear some of the new tunes and the crowd in my opinion seemed really into it which seemed to fire everyone up, certainly made me want to act more like a geeky fan haha.
I think there were only a couple of things that bugged me during the show one of which was the sound. When Conor Oberst played it felt like all the instruments in the band were overwhelming each other and I found it difficult to hear half of his lyrics. Not to mention though this was my personal preference the guy in the MVB that sang Snake Hill should not have been on the mic!
After that what was with all the people needing to make a run for beer? In my aisle I swear I had to be more watchful for the couple of people that kept coming and going during the set for alcohol then watching the show, it was just stupid to me.
All in all, I enjoyed the show and I'm hoping Wilco swings back to NY wherever it is come fall, best band going these days.

"You were a blessing and I was a curse, I did my best not to make things worse, for you" gets me every time.

I'm curious about this too, their website mentions inspection of carry-in items but how deeply do venues like these do inspections? It's probably not worth the hassle and just enjoy the show.
-
Looking forward to the gig this weekend, sitting somewhere over to the left in the venue seating so I hope it's a good spot.
I actually am wondering what is their policy on taking photos?

Either One Wing or Poor Places. Sometimes Less Than You Think.

I had to register too, too amazing to pass up.

So I read on here that Jeff said Bull Black Nova is about a guy who just killed his girlfriend, right? If that's what the song is supposed to be about, then who do you think he's calling at the end? Who is he trying to get to "Pick up! Pick up!"? The police? Doesn't seem like it since earlier he says "They're coming up the shoulders. What have they found? I wonder if they know". Seems like that's the police he's talking about. Maybe a friend or something, since he can't think and can't calm down? I guess my first thought was that he's calling the girlfriend hoping that she'll pick up and he'll come to his senses and find that the murder was just a nightmare or something. I dunno; what do you guys think?
In my mind he's trying to call a friend to like try to come to his senses following what he's just done and what to do next, which I think is most likely. Just sheer desperation, the only other theory I've ever thought of which seems more far-fetched after reading what Jeff said it was about was like it was someone trying to call the police or someone because the murderer is on the loose and that person was next. Sort of a switch in perspective at the end.

Never mind, figured it out, never search when you're tired I always say.

Tonight I was re-watching the Ashes of American Flags DVD and it got me to thinking because of how good the performances are, what gigs exactly are these from during the 2008 tour? I was trying to figure it out on Wilcobase to see if I could go over to Owl and Bear to download them if possible, but I got confused and haven't been able to figure it out. Anybody know?
Thanks.

I've had this album for over a month and I thought You and I was really weak at first, but it grew on me a lot.
Curious question for all you first time listeners? How did you take in the album? Driving in the car, sitting in the living room? Just curious. I think when it leaked I blasted it through my speakers and just laid down and closed my eyes and took it all in.
As I recall after the leak I listened to it on my computer then on my iPod to myself then systematically made everyone else listen whether it was in the car or wherever it was because I was so happy to listen to it haha.

it would make it better for me 2
Meee tooo I can't stop complaining about it!
-
Hangin' in, but it's tough. I enjoyed the idea that maybe I was waking up the neighbors haha.

Complete radio silence in the middle of Spiders. Epic fail.
I'm so bummed, Spiders must simply rock too much for the webcast to handle.

Well the little lyric flub on Side With The Seeds was new at least haha.
