  1. The Star Wars trend continues... to add to the comments above about how the band will handle multi-night stands, I am headed to the Independent show in SF and wonder if the band will simply treat tonight like any other show and whether they will repeat the Star Wars format from tonight to tomorrow night's Outside Lands set.  Admittedly I hope they play all of Start Wars tonight; I'd like to see it in a small club and I have been purposefully not watching any of the videos from the recent live performances so I hear it live in person for the first time.

    The suspense builds!

  2. Wow.  Well, attending both nights certainly paid off.  I got to see a lot of songs played over the last two nights.  Both nights were great, I thought.  For some reason to me the second night was more mesmerizing.  Though, I was closer to the stage and was attending solo so I am sure that affected my experience.

The aborted "Please Tell My Brother" was hilarious.  Jeff started the song and got through about 2 or 3 lines of the lyrics when some lady yelled, to my ears, "Golden Smog!!!" Jeff looked up, smirked, and said, "you love this song?"  I couldn't tell if he was fucking with her or if he legitimately misheard her.  Regardless, he quickly adds, "okay well then I'm not playing it" and he immediately starts into One By One.  The whole place was laughing.  Then after One By One he smirks again and starts back into Please Tell My Brother.  Pretty classic Tweedy.

  3. These setlists all look great, and the reviews have been much appreciated. I guess it would be fun to follow around this tour, but at the risk of being dubbed a "Tweedyhead." Still, might be worth it. :lol

Hehehehe.  Well, I am going to both SF shows so what does that say about me.  Plus I am sure many folks are hitting multiple Largo shows.

I wish they would release a couple of the SBDs from this tour... the song selection and performances are top notch.

Looking forward to night 2 tonight!  Not long now!

  4. Headed to work so just a few quick comments… My first Tweedy solo show after having missed him the last several solo tours.  I really enjoyed it.  The setlist was pretty diverse…. Some deep cuts: Magazine Called Sunset, Cars Can't Escape, No More Poetry.  Great Laminated Cat / Shot In The Arm main set closer.  Two of my personal favorites.  Some hilarious banter.  Tweedy was chatting up the crowd asking how many people were also coming again tonight to which he quipped that "well I'm going to play 60% the same songs."  He also ranted about cheez its for some time.  Good stuff.  Tweedy's voice sounded good.  The crowd was very well behaved I thought… I anticipated more heckling than there was.  The Give Back The Key To My Heart encore closer was played with Scott McCaughy at the front of the stage with no PA.  I didn't see any microphones in the air, so it didn't look to me like anyone was taping.  Round 2 up tonight… wash, rinse, repeat.

  5. I only saw the UPS option as well, which isn't a problem for me because I had them shipped to my office. I didn't think twice about it. But, you should email Frontgate Tickets to see if you have any other options, I'm sure they can help out.

  6. I'm so used to the Jeff solo version it was a trip hearing this version (the Being There version). Great stuff and great find. The audio feed on this is definitely not an SBD, for what its worth. This makes me pumped for the January CA shows. Thanks for sharing.

  7. The Fox in Oakland is stunning. It just underwent a $90 million dollar renovation, and it now looks and sounds amazing. I've seen about a dozen shows there since the remodel and it's far and away my favorite theater-sized venue in North America.
