  1. Oh - one more thing - I know they feel like they hafta play Hotel AZ when they're here (every single time, the 3 times I've seen 'em in AZ), but still - I sorta wish not.  That being said - it rocked.  But I guess I just don't like predictability.  Impossible Germany, though - they need to NEVER stop playing that live.  To me, it's the pinnacle of what they have ever done.  I think Too Far Apart is the only Wilco song I haven't seen played live before that I now have, and that was nice!

  2. No complaints.  OK, the weather was hot, but it's WILCO.  I've endured weather like this for much worse, and I'm not gonna miss my band when they're here!!!!!!  So I had seats in section B, row 12, with chairs (stood most the time, danced a lot tho), and that was great, but I also moved to the rail (like, 4 rows up) to jam to Impossible Germany and some other numbers.  Considering the heat, they were GREAT.  In fantastic spirits, well-oiled machine.  Setlist was a beautiful 20th Anniversary collection.  Only wants, I guess: Panthers.  One day, some day, I'll hear that live and in person.  And reading above that Ashes got cut - urgh - another I was hoping to hear and sure we would, being an Independence Day show and all.  The venue was actually quite decent, the sound was good - and enjoyed Dr. Dog too.  Saw Wilco in 2012 when they played at Red Rocks and played with Punch Brothers one night and Dr Dog the other, but chose the Punch Brothers pairing cause I LOVE LOVE LOVE 'em and could only do one.

Brought 4 frozen water bottles for me and my crew last night - the ice lasted the entire show.  The night didn't rain, monsoon, haboob - THAT'S something to be thankful for (tho maybe some raindrops - just a few - might have cooled things off just a bit.) Hey, life is really good anytime I can see Wilco - just makes me glad to be alive.   :usa   Happy 4th!

  3. Billydee, thanks, that was good info!  I've seen 'em at Red Rocks (bought reserved then, wish I'd been closer) but since I live in Phx area and NEED to see them with not other hopes of travel this year - this is it!  $85 for Pit is scary, though.  Reserved being $65 was new news to me.

  4. Just as BeShakey explained above, I open Audacity and hit "record," then jump over to Roadcase and hit "play," and it becomes a long track, UNLESS stopped every so often. I did this with one show - just put it into 3-4 song groupings with tracks that are a bit shorter than the whole. Not ideal, but for a quick and dirty amateur, it worked out fine for my purposes. Only problem I've found (which is why I landed here - looking for solutions) - works better in IE than in Chrome. (Hell is Chrome?) But the other problem that seems more evident now is that Roadcase and the website are very unstable. It either doesn't give me a way to listen to the newer shows, or it flashes and goes back to the homepage. I don't have a MAC. Probably works better there. Any solutions? Is there a browser for PC users where the website doesn't act so quirky?

  5. I was at the Tempe show and stood most of the time (row C - 3rd from stage in Pit). I felt bad because right behind us (but a short distance away) was the wheelchair row. YES, they kept that row as a wheelchair row, EVEN during a rock concert. (Normally, they do broadway shows there). I felt bad, and did occasionally sit down, but overall, it's not our fault that's where they decided to have the wheelchair seating. Am I going to hell for this? Maybe. Do I regret standing and dancing? No. Tough call.

  6. I got tix for AZ. Was in the waiting room for a while, barely played the game (so there's no truth to the 3x complete snake game before lets you purchase).

I got Pit row 3! I'm a happy camper, but I was in the waiting room from 9:55am - 10:03 and it probably only *felt* like it wouldn't end, and I dreaded doing anything as long as those cubes kept revolving. I forgot to log into FrontGate though, and panicked a bit. (I bet the demand for the CA shows is MUCH greater than for the AZ show).

    Good luck, everyone!

    And to answer someone's questions:

YES they were WILL CALL only, and YES, 2 ticket limit. I have a friend who purchased at the same time - she got 7th row by 9 minutes after.

  7. I was there as well. The person next to me sung quietly but otherwise, I heard no one else singing along with much of anything (except Jesus, and I was just happy to sing!). Which was totally a different vibe from a Wilco show, where I get the sense that Jeff would rather more people sing, as often as possible.

What a great show this was! I feel blessed, having seen Wilco and Jeff Tweedy within just over six months of each other. It was bliss hearing Impossible Germany, as well as Spiders, which had such a different arrangement - just a treat. I hope Wilco decides to play in Phoenix next time they're out (I would travel again to Tucson or wherever, but...Phx IS the capital, after all, and the most populated place in the state). I'm sure he saw what a great audience it was (and he said so several times).

  8. The ones I loved most in 2009:

The Decemberists - Hazards of Love - even flew to Chicago to catch the show live. Incredible.

Imogen Heap - Ellipse - why isn't she named anywhere else?

Wilco (Bull Black Nova and a few of the other tracks - NOT the entire album)

  9. Try this - although, I don't know if the downloads still work or not. I never messed with the Sunken Treasure stuff.

    Looking For The Following?:

Yankee Foxtrot Hotel - More Like The Moon EP

A Ghost Is Born - Bonus EP

Sunken Treasure (DVD) - Audio Download

Sky Blue Sky - Bonus EP

Download from Wilcoworld - Registration Required.

Thanks! The first two work! Yippee! But the 2nd two don't. Maybe a email to them might rectify the situation? (I also bought Sunken Treasure about a year ago and couldn't get the bonus stuff, no matter what I tried). But the fact that some of the stuff still downloaded (for free) is encouraging.

  10. Ahhhhhhhhh.... :music

Just got the download I ordered - worked seamlessly -(hope to get the CD in the mail soon!!!!) and it's SO GREAT to be listening. I heard it originally the 2nd time it was streamed (fortunately before the show in Tucson). Bliss! Don't mind the Feist song but thought You Never Know a little weak. But I have to admit, it's growing on me.

  11. I just have a problem with people expecting something from someone like Jeff, in regards to something like MJ passing. Like I said, expecting a statement on Jay is reasonable. He still doesn't have to give one, but there's clearly a relationship there that the fans will be curious about.

Maybe he doesn't really care? I think it's a damn tragedy that he died the way he did (and I think much of MJ's life was a tragedy, but I'm very tired of hearing about MJ. If Jeff wasn't a fan of the man or the music, why must he say something because it's what people are doing?

Basically, if they had said something, I'd think it was a nice touch, and that it's cool that Jeff has such a public forum for his "mourning." But they didn't say anything, and that's quite alright too.

Am I the only one thinking this?

Shakespeare ---- I said I wondered what the vibe was like and if anything happened. Yeah, maybe he doesn't care. And maybe you're sick of hearing about it. I just was curious, since they were IN THE TOWN where this BIG MUSIC THING happened, THAT VERY DAY, did anything occur at their concert that night? Just curious, dude. Never said I expected anything. JUST CURIOUS.

  12. I like how Wilco's spot on amazon is after the first 15 albums of MJ. Wonder what their take is on MJ.

Yeah, I added a comment to the 6/25 LA show thread wondering if Wilco said or did anything related to MJ. It must have been surreal for them to be in LA the very day MJ died in that city.

  13. Looking at subsequent show setlists, I'm still really happy with what we got in AZ! :)

I was pretty close, but most of my photos turned out poorly (couldn't use flash). Here are the only two worth sharing...hope I didn't resize 'em too small...

  14. Hey, faxman75, no problem.

Yeah, I said the Phx area, and that's what I meant for their last time in the Valley. Just blew me away that they didn't tour Sky Blue Sky here when I looked it up 6 months ago. Most acts do play Phx if they're playing anywhere in the state, but Tucson and some other spots have us beat in radio. That's precisely why I only got into Wilco on a friend's sharing - no one here plays 'em, and most people I talk w/don't even know who they are (which is absurd, I know, for a band that's been around as long as they have). Maybe they thought Tucson was the place to be with UA, but it's the summer and the majority of students aren't there during the summer (but they have Tucson fans, of course!), and those in Phx-area and elsewhere have to drive, so...y'know, I have no idea why they haven't hit the Phx environs (including Tempe) in 5 years, but that's the way it is, and as I mentioned, I wrote to Wilco's management about pleading for them not to skip AZ next tour, and got a nice reply back that they *would* stop in the state this time. Marquee's cool, but they could clearly sell it out and then some. Dodge is possibly too large. MAC is awesome soundwise, you'd probably run into the same thing though because the atmosphere is a seated show (though every artist who plays it raves about the house and sound and the shows there are incredible), so maybe the Centennial just had the size they needed and the availability.

I had a great experience - I feel bad for anyone who didn't get to dance, though...but - maybe people just want to watch the band? I don't think Wilco thinks we don't care - the applause was always huge, and they put on such a great show and seemed to be having a great time themselves.

Does anyone know if the pit was for sale, or was just insiders and photographers?

Yep, I'm gonna be at Cowbody Junkies/Son Volt. We don't get our assignment til that night, but ask for me (Sandy).

Thinking again about the ones at UA who asked people to sit and who guarded the front to block a possible rush to the stage (so it seemed) - after more thought, they very well could have been security. Looked like the ushers had white tops (including the poor gal who had to shout a million x to get your hand stamped if you walked outside), while the "enforcers" were wearing blue polos (but they were seating people, so ???). Again, from my 3 yrs experience in ushering, ushers are asked to help enforce demands of the artist - so if, for instance, an artist asks for no seating during numbers, we have to follow that order - same w/photography and/or video. So when ya call Centennial - you might ask if it was ushers or security doing the dirty work, and whether the house policy is to stop people from dancing. B-52s are playing there Wednesday - I'd like to see them try to stop their fans from dancing!

In the best of all possible worlds, they would play somewhere where people could get on their feet - but hey, I'm just grateful I got to see them!

Last but not least, Zebra, too bad about your brother being stopped to miss the screaming in BBN! That was INTENSE. Looking forward to the shots! (And to getting my copy in the mail so I can hear it again. Thanks, Wilco, for steaming it - was awesome to hear it - oh, and wasn't One Wing great live too?)
