  1. Great show tonight! Absolutely loved the setlist tonight! I was pumped they played Country Disappeared!

thanks for the fast setlist! what an amazing show, so glad to see them like this -- jeff without his jean jacket!?! at first i thought the venue would be bad, but the band and crowd made it feel like home! third show this summer, and this one, the best (other two were el paso and austin). LOVED THE SETLIST!!!

  2. I've seen them several times too, including tonight. I feel that in smaller venues WILCO makes more of a connection with the crowd and there is more energy. I just felt like there was some distance between the crowd and the band, and I had really great seats and still felt this way. Maybe my seats were too close to really get the proper mix for the sound, and I could hear a noticeable echo from the back of the house. Coming from out of town I thought it was difficult to get to Cedar Park, and I was less than thrilled with parking. I had to go to guest services for a small matter and chatted with the manager a bit and we talked about parking and he said they normally charge 15 for parking, he said WILCO management got them to lower the price, kudos to them. I think the only thing I liked about Cedar Park the Venue (the band were top notch as always) were the roaming beer guys, that was cool.

i agree with saul -- i saw them in el paso and felt much more crowd energy and seemed like jeff enjoyed himself more than at CP. in fact, to me, he seemed not happy for the first few songs. he made all the expected compliments, but i'm not sure he really meant it. i had good seats, and also thought the sound was not great, though it seemed to get better later into the show. i also agree with the poster earlier that stubbs is not a great venue -- last time i was there, some drunk guy, smoking, kept rubbing up against me until i had to ask him to step back. but CP was cold, and the people on my row kept sitting down! i'm going to UIC, will be interesting to see how that feels.

  3. Guitar Center gives me a headache! If you can get there, Chicago Music Exchange has a great selection, vintage, new, you name it. I went there and played as many different acoustics as I could, and the 60's reissue of the J-45 won, hands down. Gorgeous, deep sound. I had no intention of buying another guitar that day, just went to look around, but once I heard this one, had to have it. Depending on where you live, you might find a cheap fast flight to Chicago via southwest air. As much as i like to give business to local music stores (I live in Austin, so there are a few aside from GC), there's no comparison to CME. http://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/

  4. they were amazing in el paso and the crowd was on it's feet from the first song through the end. reserved seats, but no one used them. maybe that's why tweedy said the crowd was "AWESOME." el paso, who knew? i drove 800 miles to get there, worth every inch of every mile.
