  1. Thanks for the thorough recap eckythump.  You covered everything.  I  mean EVERYTHING.  Well done.  I was there but had forgotten some of the details you captured.

Couldn't agree more about the poster--very cool.  Anyone know who the artist is?

The show itself was terrific, excellent song selection with a nice mix of slow and fast.  I was especially happy with the final rocking encore. I like when Wilco goes out with a bang, and they certainly did on Wednesday.

Someone was asking about Cheap Trick; I did see Bun E. Carlos at the show, as well as Miles Nielson (Rick's son).

  2. I can't keep it to 10, so I'm just listing some of the best shows I've seen at the Castle Theatre in Bloomington, IL. (I still couldn't keep it to 10)

    Old 97's (Teddy Thompson opened) - 4/1/2011 (Robbie Fulks opened) - 6/7/2013

    Slobberbone - 5/19/2011

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - 5/25/2011, 10/27/2013, 6/12/2014, 10/10/2015 (all four were great)

    Candy Golde (w/John Stirrat & Bun E. Carlos!) - 8/25/2011

    Hayes Carll & Scott Miller - 7/22/2012

Richard Thompson Electric Trio - 6/17/2014

Cracker (Edward David Anderson opened) - 7/31/2014, (Ike Reilly opened) 7/26/2015

    Drive-By Truckers (Dexateens opened) - 11/17/2015

    Robbie Fulks - 4/24/2016

  3. We were standing behind "theashtraysays" and Jeff definitely gave a nod to your Bull Black Nova sign. You also did a good job of holding it up between songs, so you were never impeding the sight lines of the people behind you.  THANK YOU!

I probably don't go to as many shows as most of the folks on this site, but I thought last night's was great.  The sound on Pat's side just outside the orchestra pit was excellent.  Setlist may have resembled other sets on the tour, but for someone who hasn't seen previous shows on this tour, I thought it was the ideal mix of old and new, fast and slow, etc.

Crowd around us was enthusiastic and engaged without being obnoxious.

The first review I read on this thread reminds me of how I feel about the more current Coen Bros. movies--the films are still great, but they don't make me feel the way their old films used to make me feel.

  4. I thought the show was absolutely great. There are probably too many hightlights to list, but here are a few of mine: Laminated Cat, Too Far Apart, I'm Always in Love, the acoustic Spiders, Handshake Drugs, Jody Stephens sitting in on In The Street, (I'm a sucker for guest appearances and cover songs.) I'm also darned glad they brought out Kingpin for this show. And if Wilco decided to close every show with Hoodoo Voodoo, I couldn't blame 'em a bit. Two days later, I'm sitting at work in Illinois and still thinking about nothing but Wilco in Memphis.

  5. This whole ticket pre-sale is a consistant fiasco. I've tried several times to buy in the pre-sale in the past and have only managed to get through once--and the tickets weren't choice. Today, I was forwarded to the waiting room at 5 'til 10, then I was kicked out--didn't touch anything, just didn't get to take the next step onto the ticket buying page. I then got through at 10 (or very close). And although the site didn't yet say, "SOLD OUT," I couldn't buy one ticket in any of the three areas available. Why not put more tickets in the pre-sale? Why not accomodate more fans? Why not develop a better online experience--2 pages that lead to frustration are 2 pages too many.

  6. 1. I bought AM shortly after it went on sale. I liked it better than Son Volt's debut and I still do.

    2. I saw Wilco waaaayyyy back in November of 1997 at Illinois State University's Braden Auditorium. As I recall there were a few hundred folks in attendance; the venue seats a couple of thousand. They were rockin', performing three versions of Passenger Side (regular, punk and polka). I also think some of Mr. Tweedy's relatives came up for the show.
