  1. Hosed on the Detroit presale. Arrrgh! Hope to score good tickets Friday morning. If you've never been to the Masonic...great venue.

Hope to see some of you there. We'll have to get a thread started on June approaches.

  2. ditto and ditto to everyones comments. Awesome show and setlist, finally allowing me to cross Candyfloss off my bucketlist. Took my 14 yo son to his first show and he was spellbound! Sound up in the mezzanine was great as were those around me.

I'll second the comments about the irritating "whooos" during OSM. Act like its not your first show.

  3. WOW!!! Now THAT is a freaking great set list. Muzzle of Bees, Pot Kettle Black, Always In Love, She's A Jar, Standing O, I'm a Wheel, the 3 straight Being There songs.....dang.

Daaaamn! Nice set list. Reservations to open...love it. Looking forward to Detroit in a week and another Michigan marathon from the boys!

  4.

I was always under the impression that the bru-ha-ha surrounding the Rolling Stones' Sunset Strip billboard to promote "Black and Blue" was the inspiration for "Smell the Glove", but you may be right.

When informed that the the "Smell the Glove" cover was sexist, not sexy, Nigel uttered my favorite movie line of all time: "There is such a fine line between clever and stupid"

  5. I have never had such a hard time getting as decent ticket for a show! Presale on Wednesday was a bust despite being on site and ready to go at 10. So tickets for the public just went on sale 20 minutes ago. Despite again being on line with ticketmaster at 10 am sharp, the best I could do was 2 GA tickets for the floor. Where the hell arethe mezzanine and loge tickets? Was hoping to take my 12 year old son to his first Wilco show, but dont feel comfortable with him on a GA floor. Anyone know how I can land a reserved seat?

  6. I'm certain that some folks around here are familiar with the Fillmore in Detroit. Looking at the seating chart on its website it appears that the main floor is GA and the mezzanine and balcony has seats. Are the seats reserved for shows such as Wilco's show on 12/10? And if this question has been asked and answered in the previous 15 pages or elsewhere in the vast VC realm, I apologize for being lazy and not searching for the relevant answers to my query.

The Filmore mas multiple seating arrangements, including one where the entire arena is researved seating. I would image that is the way they will go for the Wilco show. Hoping for another marathon similar to the Fox show in 2009!

  7. Maybe I have horrible hearing, but it sounded like both the left and right channels were blasted on both sides of the auditorium or I never realized this.

I actually thought the sound was exceptional. I was in the 3rd row, and you kind of expect a crappy mix up there, but I was pleasantly suprised. Great acoustics. That was a BIG room. Ceiling had to be close to 100 ft high.

  8. Great show tonight at the Wharton Center. Excellent venue, and a few suprises in the set list.

Jeff and the band seemed to be in good spirits and genuinely enjoying themselves. Despite the plush seating, most of the main floor stood the entire show. Jeff commented on how the crowd was "...standing, knowledgeable, and ready to do your part." A few welcome suprises in the set list. Personal highlights included Walken, Hummingbird and a slowed down version of Passenger Side.

Nasty drive home in the snow!

  9. Coming into Lansing for the Sunday show at the Wharton Center. Never been to this venue or to Lansing. Anyone have any info? Is the Wharton center near the campus bars and resturants? I'm hoping to arrive a bit early, park the car, and walk to grab a burger and a beer. Any suggestions?

  10. Exactly... I've always thought that about the people woo hooing at the quiet parts.. "if I scream now, Jeff will just be hearing MY voice instead of the mass of voices..."

Almost as annoying as the Jeff wannabes who sing at the top if thier lungs for a full 2 hour set. Jackasses. I've got nothing against getting into a live show. But I dont want to hear YOUR show.

With regard to sit or stand...Last year at the Fox Theater in Detroit Jeff was clearly bit irritated that the majority of the crowd was sitting. He had to basically shame people into standing....embarrasing. Not sure what to expect at the Wharton Center in Lansing this sunday. Anyone been there?

  11. I've got a single available for the Sunday show in East Lansing. Row F, on the left (seat 42) in front of Nels! Just looking to recoup my $40. Email me at bmartin@aastrom.com I'd be happy to meet you with the ticket in Lansing prior to the show, or you can pick-up in Ann Arbor.

  12. I enjoyed it immensely. As mentioned, not on par with Royal Oak, but still great. Highlights for me were finally seeing Casino Queen live(requested), and Box Full of Letters (guess that makes me an old timer according to Jeff).

Mix seemed a bit off at first but got better as the show went on. With the exception of the sleeping 10 year old in the row in front of me, I thought the crowd was into it. The entire lower level stood for the whole show.

On to E. Lansing in February. Michigan is on a roll.

IATTBYH - I also was at Ashley prior to the show. 4 of us drinking beers at a table up near there front. I had on a tigers cap.
