  1. Ghost of Electricity makes good points. All of their albums have gone through transitions with me. I loved Wilco the album when it first came out, then got bored, then loved it, currently a little bored with it, but I will truly truly love it in the long run I assure you

  2. My rankings these days are now as follows:

    A ghost is born

    Yankee hotel foxtrot

    Sky blue sky

    Being there

    Summerteeth

    Wilco (the album)

    A.M.

..that actually was painful to do

i think sky blue sky is certainly a major league record, but perhaps along the lines of the kansas city royals. Oddly enough, one of my favorite baseball teams and one of my favorite albums :cheers

  3. I think it finally happened. AGIB finally showed itself as my favorite Wilco album over YHF. This is unfair though considering when I think of AGIB, I also consider The Wilco Book and the tour EP and the extras. Either way, the AGIB sessions is my favorite Wilco era. done and done..

  4. Haha, very nice tracklist. I would still have to keep At Least That's What You Said as my opener I think. It's going to be tough, but I'm gonna try to make my ghost set soon.

  5. Hell yeah. Panthers, The High Heat and This Is New are my favorites that didn't make the record. I also do prefer the soma version of Hummingbird over the album cut. I actually plan on making a thread called "a ghost was intended" and making my dream ghost tracklist

  6. I always thought I wanted a studio version of "My Words," but after the abomination that was studio "Panthers," I'm fine with the live versions.

noooo =/. Panthers is one of my favorite Wilco tunes, and certainly one of my favorite from the Ghost era. So much so that I'm actually thinking of getting a tattoo of a small panther with Wilco written on it's body as dumb as they may sound lol.

I think you're thinking of "Let's Not Get Carried Away?" Let's Fight was about as fun and exciting as watching paint dry.

I again must disagree. Let's Not Get Carried Away rules hard, but so does Let's Fight. I love the keys with their very violin sounding tones, and the crescendo at the end of the song is worth the price of admission alone.

  7. If I can add my two cents as a Wilco purist and a large fan of both songs, I think musically and "cool" factors included, whatever the hell that even means or has to do with the argument, 'Impossible Germany' is heads and shoulders above 'Box Full Of Letters'. IG is a deeply emotional song that happens to possess one of Nel's most frantic, yet beautiful solos. "Box Full Of Letters" is also an emotional, yet straightforward song that really pales in comparison in my, and probably most opinions. That having been said, god bless you for digging "Box Full of Letters" more, I'm always a big fan of enthusiastic A.M. support =).

  8. Ken Coomer's obscure drumming toward the dissonant parts should not be excluded from discussion either. He is playing such a strange, pounding, yet restrained beat, adding a lot of bubbling, dissonant noise as well.

  9. Yeah I must tastefully disagree, the song needs the dissonance I think. Summerteeth is a shimmering pop record without the dark alleys of dissonance and distortion, and those exact points make it such such a harrowing, darker mystery of a listen. Plus it fits perfectly with the dark lyrics of the song

  10. Definitely my album of 2010 thus far. It may be becoming my favorite Spoon record overall, slightly edging out Gimme Fiction for that slot. It just feels like a more intense, truer version of Spoon. That was my only gripe with their amazing music in the past, is at times how disconnected and simply grooving it is. I feel like Daniels took a more personal detour on this, and the darkness of the album showcases this beautifully. "Before Destruction" is the absolute perfect, dissonant opening to such a wonderfully disjointed album. This takes the idea of Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga and turns it on its head, but not too drastically. Great stuff; now only The National need to release "High Violet" and this year will start turning the right way.

  11. You know what, I am not sure about that. I've searched for live versions to no avail. That wouldn't even suffice unfortunately, I want to hear this song in a live setting with my own two ears. Maybe Wilco will go back into a darker YHF/AGIB phase when writing their next album and begin playing songs like this to inspire them =D. I can dream...

  12. Let's Fight sounds sooo good, I just am confused as how a song (no disrespect towards it) like "Leave Me Like You Found Me" or "Please Be Patient With Me" makes it over something like this. Those songs are great, but so low key and understated compared to the pretty apparent dark emotion present in this tune. Yeah, let's stop with the bickering please; that is funny that it's happening in a thread called Let's Fight though as you said lol.

  13. Me too! I'm always walking around singing it. I know what you mean with the vibe as well. It has more Loose Fur vibes than anything I suppose, and Mike's piano lines plus Jeff's vocal melody make this song perfection

  14. I wasn't really talking to you, more the previous post. My thank you was geared towards you =). I meant 'guys' as the site as a whole, and again thank you for the guidance, it was very helpful. But honestly, did they ever make a studio version of the song? I feel it's better and more emotional than the majority of SBS..

Oh shoot, I didn't see preferred B's post. That sucks, I wish there was one. If anyone knows, let me know; I'll call Tweedy myself and tell him I have a bone to pick lol.

  15. haha, judging by your name I'd assume so. I think it's such an amazing song, and I truly do love nearly everything about the Wilco Book bonus CD, especially that particular tune. I would die if I heard Tweedy open up with "she wants to die..." at a show, gahh

  16. If tweedy made a solo album even slightly resembling a ghost is born I would be ecstatic.

PS, I do believe this discussion group would like to know that I ordered the Chelsea Walls soundtrack from Amazon and I again apologize for any feathers I ruffled along the way. Please forgive me ladies and gents
