  1. Great set again tonight; only one repeat over three 30 song setlists. What a great run. Here's what was played:

    In a future age

    Bull black nova

I am trying to break your heart>

    Bob Dylan's 49th beard

At my window sad and lonely

    One by one

    Hesitating beauty

    Summerteeth

    Whole love

    Say you miss me

    Pick up the change

    Forget the flowers

    Passenger side

    I'm always in love

    Candyfloss

    Red eyed blue>

I got you (at the end of the century)>

  5. Please don't retire. I always love your write-ups. I've been reading the forums for awhile, and felt like it might be time to give back. I didn't find any of the playing disappointing (I actually thought a lot of the performances were better tonight), but I don't think I've ever seen Wilco on back to back nights with such little vatiation in the setlist.

True Love Will Find You In the End was definitely I highlight in the set, but I usually leave a Wilco show feeling like I heard 4 or 5 really unique songs, rather than 1 or 2. Was nice to see Cars and Magazine again, but it took a little of the thrill away after having seen them the night before.

  6. Not necessarily a bad show performance wise, but pretty disappointing setlist considering it was almost identical to last nights. Wish there had been a little more variety. Here's what they played:

    Hummingbird

  7. Great show tonight; the Tweedy shows were fun this summer, but it was nice to see the full band again. Tweedy was quiet for most of the show, but did make a pretty fun joke involving Glenn's penis and a Porsche. Here's the setlist, as played (I'm pretty sure I have the order right):

    Misunderstood

    Forget the flowers

    Passenger side

    Handshake drugs

  8. I'm sure everyone else got this email, but this is pretty exciting:

If that isn't enough, we're gonna do a special under-the-radar stream of the new record tomorrow for Wilcoworld only. Here's the deal -- as a reward for your labors, ours, and those of our forefathers/mothers -- starting at 12 Noon Central time tomorrow (Saturday) and for 24 hours straight we're gonna stream
    The Whole Love
    in its entirety, at
    wilcoworld.net
. That's right. Your first chance to hear the whole thing is tomorrow. Trust us, you'll be glad you made time to check it out.

  9. I'm really surprised that there hasn't been a leak/stream of the album yet. Not that that's any fault of the band's; it's totally understandable why you'd want to keep a new release under wraps as long as possible, especially when it's on a newly formed label and starts a somewhat new chapter for Wilco's career. The tour starts on September 13th, and I can't imagine they won't be selling the record on each date of the tour, given that the album doesn't come out until almost half of the U.S. shows are finished. It seems like not selling the record to those crowds would result in some missed opportunities. I really hope that there's a stream before the tour starts, just so everyone can get acquainted with the new music before songs start to be premiered at shows, but it can't stay of the Internet that much longer after September 13th roles around.

I'm glad that most of the reviews have been positive, but most of the reviews for all of their records are positive. Even Wilco (The Album) was called album of the year by German Rolling Stone. Not that I hate that album, but I'm really hoping for some better songs this time around. I think what's bothered me about their last two records is that Tweedy's lyrics don't quite have the same emotional heft that they used to. As much fun as songs like "Walken," and "Hate it Here" are to see live, I'd rather hear him sing about almost anything other than folding laundry. "I Might" shows a positive lyrical shift I think. Even though the lyrics don't really have any literal meaning, I'm happy that Tweedy is experimenting with stream of conscious stuff again, rather than taking the overly literal approach that's apparent in the last two albums (especially Sky Blue Sky). I'm really hopeful for this one. All of the new songs played at Solid Sound sounded really good, and even one like "Dawned on Me", that sports some pretty straightforward lyrics, is more reminiscent of classics like "Outtasight (Outta Mind)" or "Say You Miss Me" rather than some of the weaker lyrical moments from the more recent albums.

Sorry for the long post, I've just been thinking about this a lot (probably too much). I agree that once it's out there, it's out there. I'll be excited to get my preorder in the mail, but as soon as I can listen to the album, I know I won't be able to wait. The Internet definitely hasn't made me more patient, but I don't think that has to be a bad thing. Leaks of Wilco albums have never kept me from buying physical copies, even if the albums haven't been exactly what I'd hoped.

  10.

Hmm. The track listing via Last.FM showed Born Alone as being 2:35 which is what I was talking about yesterday, but didn't want to bring it up and have another 5 pages a la the One Wing discussion (album vs. Work In Progress version). Interesting. I thought maybe they decided to hit the fade button before the awesome ending. I'll check and see if the other times match up with Last.FM. I seem to recall that Standing O was surprisingly listed as 4:00 which seemed too long compared to the Solid Sound live version.

I don't know if anyone brought this up yet, but the acoustic bootleg of Born Alone that was going around for awhile before the Solid Sound one was recorded is 2:35 long. Wouldn't that account for last fm listing the track at that length? Not totally sure on this, but it seemed like a weird coincidence. Personally, I'm hoping for the 4 plus minute version that was played at Solid Sound.

  11. Can I also get a PM? I've been checking what/ this site maybe every 30 minutes for the last week. I need this off my mind so I can resume normal human functions ...

  12. Hey, there. I'm new to the site. Been following this threat for the past week or so, and I couldn't help but get on board. Very excited for the new album. Really looking forward to hearing some new stuff on tour; all the Solid Sound debuts sounded great. Thanks for all of the great info that's been posted in here over the past few days, and I'll do my best to add to that in any way I can.
