  1. Last summer, I worked at Warner Bros. Records and I saw Wilco on the calendar for a 2013 release. When I met Nels the other night, I asked him about it and he said they were not in the studio and that Jeff is currently making an album with his son which has like 23 songs or something (not sure if that's even news to your guys). BUT they are getting back together to work on something in October. Hopefully that's helpful to you guys!

  2. Not to derail this thread, but the person who mentioned their befuddlement at some fans' dislike of SBS should read these. There were no lyrics of this caliber on that album. These great quotes are mainly from ST, BT, AGIB & YHF, the four greatest albums in the Wilco discography.

Oh, the band marched on in formation

The brass was phasing tunes I couldn’t place

    With a sky blue sky

This rotten time wouldn’t seem so bad to me now

I am looking forward toward the shadows tracing bones

Our faces stitched and sewing, our houses hemmed into homes

No one wins but the thieves, so why side with anything?

  3. You get to start the thread, not run the show. I mean, you're gushing about an album about acceptance and bitching because you can't accept that people don't like it? :lol

Not everyone is into soft rock albums about acceptance and recovery. Nothing wrong with that.

That is not at all what I meant. Saying 'it sucks' does not help me understand why people dont like the CD.

  4. Oh... there's some hate. I love it, but I understand their POV. YHF and AGIB are fantastically weird. SBS is pretty damn normal. I don't think anyone was expecting that record when Nels came aboard.

"Shake It Off" is pretty goofy, although it sounds like it isn't loved on this board. Personally, I really fuckin love it. Let it be known also that I listen to A Ghost Is Born and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot quite often and I still prefer Sky Blue Sky. I got into them in 2007 as that album came out, so maybe that is why my opinion is different...or because its a great album.

  5. It seems to be about the change of pace from previous albums. When it was first released, I had a really hard time getting into it, but for some reason I felt like trying it again a few months ago and it's been a frequent flyer in my car CD player ever since.

Some songs' lyrics are more simple in some of the songs than in previous albums, so that might be a factor too. There isn't quite as much of the poetic essence. Initially maybe that was part of my inability to appreciate it at first--it's hard to say. Now I think it's lovely.

I actually like the songs mentioned above. The idea in Leave Me, of not wanting to be scarred or shaken up in whatever way by a relationship, is a powerful theme for anyone who's come out a horrendous relationship and weren't quite the same for a long time. The lyrics might be simplistic for the most part, but the last few lines are classic poetic Tweedy. As for Either Way, it's that sense of letting things be and accepting what happens without pushing it in a way that convolutes things. The sun will shine--life will go on--either way, no matter how one feels. It brings to mind a Flaming Lips lyric, "The universe will have its way."

Can't we look at it objectively? I know I can look at it subjectively and still say SBS is the best, but since it is a little different than YHF and AGIB it sucks for you guys? No no no. This is a beautiful CD. The worst songs are the last two, but they don't suck. Everything else is unreal in my eyes.

  6. 1. Sky Blue Sky (haters gon' hate)

    2. A Ghost Is Born

    3. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

    4. The Whole Love (this might rise as time goes on)

    5. Wilco (The Album)

    6. Being There

    7. Summerteeth

    8. A.M.

Yeah I'm different than you people I guess.
