I read the whole thing, friend...guess I just didn't know at which point of the interview the giggles and such occurred. Again, nice piece.
Glad you and others enjoyed it! I always get a thrill out of great bands talking about other great bands.

Well with out a [laughs, chuckles] preceding the response, to me, it reads like straight-up bitching rather than self-deprecation. Either way, nice interview.
Ah, sorry - that's explained away in the opening paragraph of page one! http://jonnyabrams.blogspot.com/2011/11/interview-deerhoof-part-1.html

Why are you afraid to post this? Weird.
Doesn't sound like they exactly enjoyed their time with Wilco -- almost seem kind of bitter about the difference between the two bands.
You never know, some forums get a bit prickly about that kind of thing. Glad this place isn't one of those places
Your impression of what Greg said might be right but it wasn't the impression I got - he was laughing constantly while he was saying it; came across more as self-deprecation than bitterness.

Hope you don't mind me posting this here and that I'm not treading on anyone's toes by starting a new topic for this.
I had the honour the other day of getting to interview Greg from Deerhoof and he spoke quite a bit about their collaboration with Jeff Tweedy, his sons (esp. Spencer) and the trouble Wilco left them in for a soundcheck while supporting them!
It's in here...

+1 on the Stephen Drozd appreciation. Arguably the greatest musician of his generation.

Funny that - I think Embryonic is possibly their best yet, and I was blown away by At War With the Mystics too. Their releases this year have been patchier but I suppose that's to be kind of expected.
