  1. I remember I nearly fainted when I found out that there was a Pink Floyd "Early Singles" disc included as a part of the Shine On box set, but, there was no way I was going to pay $150+ for a box of albums I already owned just to get the early singles. Anyways, I think it was that same weekend I went into this local record store & was looking through the used CD's & found the "Early Singles" CD with the other used Floyd albums. I almost went into shock. Apparently someone bought the box set & didn't care for that particular disc, so they sold it to the record store. Hey, I'm not complaining. I only paid $6 for something I otherwise would have had to give an arm & a leg for. This was at the height of my Pink Floyd obsession & way before I knew how to purchase/download albums online. I couldn't have been happier.

  2. Right On!!! Thanks for jumping on the cause!!! It's that last show of the US part of the tour, maybe they will let loose and bring Dash 7 to the Bowl.

I just put in about 25 requests for it. I'm thinking if we do this on a daily basis there's no way Jeff can deny it..

  3. We were at the C-bus show as well, and Ioved hearing ELT - it's one of my favorites on ST and I wasn't expecting it at all...

It's my favorite Wilco song. I heard them play it twice during soundcheck but I didn't think they'd actually play it during the show. I was shocked when they did. That just goes to show that Wilco does in fact listen. I think I'm going to help Muzzle Of Dan with the voting for "Dash 7" to be played at the Hollywood Bowl. I'd love to hear it live on this tour.

  4. This thread made me start requesting this song for the Hollywood Bowl. I'm aware it's an impossibility, but it would be kick butt.

There are not enough pretty words to portray my love for this song.

It's not an impossibility at all. I went to the show on August 4th in Columbus & watched them play ELT for the first time this tour. Jeff even introduced it as "a song we haven't played in a while." I guess those 100+ requests that I put in actually paid off.

  5. Not only the most underrated, I would say it may well be the best song Jeff has ever writen.

I would give that title to Wishful Thinking, but Dash 7 would probably be second.

  6. Yeah I understand what you mean. I just saw them on the 21st for the first time & they played X-Mas Curtain & Carl was spot on with the slide in it. But then when I got home I figured I'd listen to the album version again & I wasn't impressed with the slide at all. It just sounds so amateur.

  7. This is probably my favorite My Morning Jacket song, but the slide guitar in it is unbearable for me to listen to. I'm not sure I've ever heard a guitar part from a big name band on a professional recording that sounded so sloppy & not thought out at all. It ruins the song in a way for me. Especially the ending with the two slide guitars going back & forth with each other.. It sounds as if the slide is being played with the hope of it sounding good. It sounds about 85% improvised & not in a good way. It gives Nels' "Impossible Germany" solo at Wilco shows a run for its money..

The worst part starts around 4:04 & lasts until about 4:45.. Please kill me.

Will someone please listen to this song all the way through & tell me if you agree? (or should I have my ears checked..?) :ermm

  8. I was thinking the same thing when the album came out. Glad I was proven to be right :)

I agree with all of yours but You and I I feel like its more Summerteeth(?).

    also I'd say:

    Wilco (the song)-Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

    Deeper Down-Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

    I'll Fight-Being There

    Country Disappeared-Sky Blue Sky

    Solitaire- Being There

    Everlasting Everything-A Ghost Is Born

I think its really cool that they made the album with their past albums in mind. And thinking about it there really arent' that many bands that could do something like that. When it comes to having each album having its own singular sound I think the comparisons to Radiohead make a lot of sense.

I agree with you on all of those except Deeper Down belonging on YHF. Oddly enough, I feel like it would fit in great on The Whole Love.

  9. I'm not sure if this has been discussed already but there's an interview where Jeff says that each of the songs on Wilco (The Album) are sort of a re-visit to the past eras of Wilco & I was wondering.. if you could place each song from WTA on a past Wilco album, where would you put them?

The only surefire ones for me are..

    Sonny Feeling - Summerteeth

    You Never Know - A.M

One Wing - Sky Blue Sky

Bull Black Nova - A Ghost Is Born

You And I - Sky Blue Sky

I think it's an interesting idea. I'd like to see what everyone else thinks.
