  1. Well, one of the guys who worked at the venue could make a second career out of being a 'Keef' lookalike. He had the whole look down. If you just caught a glimpse of him, you'd definitely do a double take. :lol

yeah, we saw that guy and had to do a triple take. he really has the Keith look down - all the way down to the skull jewelry and the hair. at one point he was standing next to us and i realized he was wearing patchouli, and that's when i figured out it wasn't him.

  2. Lots of adults don't get (or know about) Wilco. So what?? There are plenty of groups that teens don't like. I suppose Wilco is as good a target as any, but really....

it's a joke. from a humor newspaper. and in a way it seems to be poking fun at the people who ARE caught hanging out at Wilco shows (hence the reason teens aren't). you're giving them more material.

  3. I am an old fart. what does this mean?

Meta - Definition: self-referential; referring to itself or its characteristics, esp. as a parody; about

And Speed Racer, thank you for your apology. It's hard to read tone on the board sometimes, but I assure you it was meant as a joke. Now go enjoy your coffee.

  4. Good lord, I was telling you the joke wasn't funny, that's all.

and now you're just being mean-spirited. it's funny how the people who have been on this board the longest make it so difficult for everyone else to get comfortable here.

  5. nothing like a good Loft thread to get people riled up.

exactly my point! thank you :)

and Speed Racer - don't you see that you are falling right into the trap of acting like the person i was making fun of?? i never brought up wanting to know the location of the loft... you did! you brough that into this thread. i was making a joke, and you took it upon yourself to make it something more.

So you're poking fun at people with whom you agree. Got it now.

i don't know if you were being sarcastic, but ... yes. that's actually kind of what i was trying to do... got blown out of proportion.

  6. oy vey... it kind of takes the funny out if you have to explain it. i was poking fun at people who get all up in arms anytime someone asks for/mentions any detail about the loft. it was a joke. and then people got all up in arms over it. very meta. just pretend it never happened.

  7. OMG! I can't believe Wilco is publicizing pictures of the loft. Doesn't Wilco know that Wilco are real people who deserve privacy? Don't they know that information about the loft is fiercely guarded by self-righteous uber-fans? What will those fans have to claim as insider info now?? I'm so pissed. Wilco should respect Wilco more than this...

  8. During Spiders Jeff came down and the let the kids standing next to us strum his guitar. He must have been really taken by them as he had a camera guy give them some guitar picks during the first few songs.

When we were at the will call window we heard a woman saying to the ticket guys "Jeff Tweedy is my brother" and she had a couple of kids in tow, so I'm assuming they are his neices/nephews... and I imagine they're the same kids who were getting so much attention from the band :)

  9. I was hoping to avoid bothering him, but I guess that's the only real way to get my questions answered. Thanks for everybody's help, though!

listen, i think you probably just wanted to let everyone know that you are on the guest list, but for argument's sake, we will pretend that this was a real question.

if you are put on the list by a band or crew member, then there will be an after-show pass inside your will call envelope. it's not all-access, it's just meant for whatever the "backstage" area is post-show.

  10. they don't call him Billy... just sayin'.

billy is quite often referencing wilco in his blog - always has them on his playlists of things he listened to that day (when he lists such) and yes - to agree with the above - as big an impact on my life as buffalo tom have had (easily in my top 5) the crown vic/solo shows he does at toad and the lizard lounge here in cambridge are not to be missed and almost more vital and exciting the bufftom - 3+ hour afairs with amazing covers, great originals and the occasional BT songs thrown in as well. absolutely great shows. i can't highly enough recomend checking one out if you're ever in town when he's playing.

  11. Hi All,

I am selling two tix to Antony & The Johnsons at Berklee Performance Center in Boston on Feb. 22nd. They are in row DD, seats 2 & 4, and I am selling them for below face. With Ticketmaster charges, the total was $88. I will sell them for $70. Please PM me if interested.

    Thanks!

  12. i LOVE Achtung Baby, and while I don't think that post was written by Jeff, I wouldn't put it past him to love this album. IMO, it is a masterpiece created not only by U2, but by Eno and Lanois (two of the most talented and respected producers of our time). Beautiful production, timeless melodies and interesting sonic landscape... I grew up on it and it was and remains one of my all time favorites - one of the few I can listen to start to finish time and again.

and on a semi-related note: i caught Daniel Lanois live last week and I have to say it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. followed it up with a viewing of his new DVD "This Is What Is" - amazing. like his music, the DVD is more atmospheric than plot-driven, but I would recommend it to any musician or fan of the creative process :)

  13. Which one would that be??? Ane who is THEY??? I am sure there is lots of footage of Wilco that was shot recently, just like many groups get footage taken at various shows, etc., that never sees any release. I can only assume you are talking about the movie shot at the Vic which is no longer very recent.

why are you so difficult and unhelpful to someone who is nicely asking for help?

  14. Watching Pat play the bass is like watching your dad drive your mom's car for the first time. It feels wrong at first, but then you stop and realize you always kind of knew he could do it well, if he needed to.

Pat actually plays bass in many (most) of the other bands he plays with. He's no newbie to that.... he's just a talented dude.

  15. Clearly someone hasn't gotten the memo that Wilco are Obama supporters.

    LouieB

i didn't realize you weren't allowed to show support for another candidate in public at a wilco show! horror!

i am a big obama fan too, but when we "liberal lefties" start getting too self-righteous, or indignant about people's freedom to support whichever candidate they want, then we're no better than they are... just sayin'...

  16. I agree. It was the first time i saw Andrew with his band heeeeeee was great! He should do an Indie film!

You're not saying that because you happened to read the review in the Boston Globe, and are paraphrasing Joan Anderman, right? No....

    From the Globe:

Singer-songwriter, violinist, and virtuoso whistler Andrew Bird opened the show with a set of riveting little dramas built of loops and Latin flavors, the Beatles and spaghetti Westerns, mysterious neuroses and impossibly smart wordplay. Somebody give this man an independent film to score.
