  1. in general I support more options vs less on special editions, etc

I like to collect posters, some may say that is as silly as bags and yo's yo's, but as long as fans buy them they will make them.....

regarding the AF reissue, I bought it and am happy with it. You get a DVD and big book of photo's, lyrics, etc in addition to the 2 extra songs. If you just want the extra songs go to itunes, I really dont see the harm of doing it this way. I did not really view it as buying Suburbs again, but rather buying all of the new content. Once again, seemed like fair value to me.

however, what I dont understand is the multiple formats with multiple songs. I appreciate Wilco giving us several options to buy, but why have 1 extra track on the vinyl and not the CD. Just does not make sense. So I am a bit torn here, I appreciate being able to buy most of the bsides now in one place (except one) vs hunting for them over the next year, but frustrated that they would go to all of the trouble to create the special edition CD and not put all of the extra songs on it.

Wilco has been so fan friendly over the years, it just seems like a bizarre move for them to make.

If you take the swinging 60s pop of Herman’s Hermits, mix in an 80s anthem from The Smiths and turn up the atmospheric noise, you’d have something like the background for Stuart McLamb’s witty lyrics and power vocals. McLamb is the frontman for the Raleigh-based band, The Love Language. The music is melodic, driving, messy and catchy. The band recently released their second album, “Libraries,” on Durham label Merge Records. They’ve been wowing critics and crowds, gracing the cover of newspapers and signing up for star-studded tours. Before they head out on the road again, they join host Frank Stasio in the studio to play live.

  4. I left a lot of good music off, I could recommend 20 releases, but here is the best

    1. Doves – Kingdom of Rust

    2. Score! – Merge 20 Year Anniversary

    3. Superchunk – Leaves in the Gutter/Crossed Wires/Blinders

    4. Cribs – Ignore the Ignorant

    5. Dirty Projectors – Bitte Orca

    6. Sunset Rubdown – Dragonslayer

    7. Telekinesis – Telekinesis!

    8. Polvo –In Prism

    9. Bad Lieutenant – Never Cry Another Tear

    10. Fanfarlo – Reservoir

  5. i give WILCO benefit of doubt here, i am confident it will make its way to all of us (eventually - may have to wait awhile)

they have given away all of their bsides since YHF to those who buy physical CD

  6. Via Billboard

Wilco Returns With Eclectic New Album

Wilco will release "Wilco (The Album)" on June 30.

    May 05, 2009 01:12 PM ET

    Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Wilco revisits the unpredictable leanings of "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" and "A Ghost Is Born" on its latest project, "Wilco (The Album)," due June 30 from Nonesuch. The 11-track set was produced by the band with Jim Scott, who mixed 2007's "Sky Blue Sky."

Whereas that album reveled in a cohesive, laidback vibe and toned down the experimentation of its two predecessors, musically, "Wilco (The Album)" offers a little bit of everything while making good on frontman Jeff Tweedy's stated goal to use "the studio as another instrument."

That approach is best heard on the nearly six-minute "Bull Black Nova," which is built on a pulsating rhythm akin to "Spiders (Kidsmoke)" from "A Ghost Is Born" and is layered with clattering piano and unhinged, interlocking guitar workouts.

Elsewhere, Wilco offers up unusual song structures on the gauzy "Deeper Down," which has short verses that come to a full stop and a wealth of sonic details in its nooks and crannies.

The gripping "One Wing" builds from a quiet introductory section to a strident, arena-worthy stomper, while strings and horns color the majestic final portion of album closer "Everlasting." Premiered last year on "The Colbert Report," opener "Wilco the Song" is a humorous, self-referential rocker with the reminder that even when life gets you down, "Wilco will love you, baby."

Fans of Wilco's more straightforward side will revel in "You and I," a gorgeous duet between Tweedy and Feist about the simple pleasures of love. Also in this vein are the hushed, largely acoustic "Solitaire" and the stately, harmony-rich "Country Disappeared."

Rounding out the album, "You Never Know" is a flashback to the ebullient pop/rock of 1999's "Summerteeth," while "Sonny Feeling" kicks out a groovy, slide guitar-laden jam that would fit nicely alongside "Walken" from "Sky Blue Sky."

  7. i like the film a lot and the background and interviews between songs were impressive too

would have liked to have more of the interviews and behind the scenes on the bonus side of the dvd

    overall, very happy with it

nice to see how they have recrafted many of their songs and how different they are now vs when originally recorded, ie via chicago

  8. I believe some of this was posted awhile back, but the reissues are out now. Nice to have The Hill by individual song vs 1 long track.
