I recorded Theologians, Cars Can't Escape, Family Gardener, Pieholden Suite, The Jay Farrar Story, Jesus, and Gun. I didn't want to record the whole show because I was afraid of getting absorbed the camera and not by the show itself.
sweet you recorded Theologians
was there a third set I missed?
I meant Spiders, oops!
anyway, here's everything:
Cars Can't Escape:
Family Gardener:
Spiders:
Jay Farrar Story:
Pieholden:
Jesus:
Gun:

Thanks for these two songs!
I was in line early with my friends (Jason and his son, Jack, from Indianpolis) when Susan Tweedy came to the front of the line asking for requests. I requested "Cars Can't Escape" and when Jack couldn't think of a song title on demand, I suggested he ask for "Family Gardener."
However, I had no influence over Jason, who knew exactly what he wanted to hear - "Passenger Side"
I was too late to sneak in a request (my girlfriend and I flew in from Toronto, and we were determined to have pizza for dinner), but all I wanted to hear were either Cars Can't Escape or Family Gardener. I wasn't expecting either - and I heard Wilco do CCE in Burlington Vermont a few years ago, so I thought I had already used up my luck - but hearing both early in the show put me in a very, very happy place. Thanks for asking for them.

I should have everything up on youtube tonight, and I'll gladly circulate the original footage. It really looks and sounds a lot better than youtube would suggest.
Thanks for the feedback, everybody.

Definitely! Put them all up!! Thanks a bunch in advance.
You're welcome. It might take me a day or two, because I shot everything in high def, and downconverting them for YouTube is a little time consuming.
Here's Family Gardener for the time being:
-
I recorded six or seven songs, plus the Jay Farrar story. Should I put them all up on the so-called "you tube"?

is't it a $100 general admission show? has it sold out that quickly in the past?
Fair enough, but I also have a limited timeframe to snag a pair of really cheap seats on a flight to Chicago, and I'd like to know I have tickets coming to me before I pull the trigger on the airfare.

Thanks for the info!
Does anybody know--will this be under "Jeff TWeedy" at Ticketmaster or the name of the school/benefit?
That's a good question - because right now on Ticketmaster, they have no Tweedy dates listed. This is making me nervous!

My finger is hovering over the "book airline tickets/vacation time" button. Just feed me the details!!

Hey, I know the guy who wrote that review and he's achieved city-wide renown as a douche.
-
I don't post here often, but I felt like I had to come out of my lurkdom to be the first to suggest it might be one of the leaked tracks.
-
I'll be there - it will be show number three for the summer. It's going to be a shorter set, but I'm excited to see them in a hometown setting. Plus, Ryan Adams, The Flaming Lips, and so much more.
I'm kind of torn between The Eels and the Blisters, though.
-
They dusted off that chestnut last night in Ottawa, I was pleasantly surprised!
-
I'm really disappointed that we didn't get to hear the planned second encore, that would have been a beautiful way to wrap the show up.
It was my little brother's first Wilco show, and Via Chicago is his favourite tune. He's going to be pretty upset when I tell him...

Just got back from the show, it definately had a different vibe than the Metropolis show in Montreal earlier in the week. It was my first outdoors Wilco show, and the music seemed to expand and contort to fill the vast space available. I have to agree, Nels tore the air apart with the sounds he managed to coax from his guitar. Jeff was cheery and talktative, and he really drove home a few of the big moments in the songs. I laughed my ass off at all the wheelchair comments, thankful that I had managed to strategize my way to the front of the narrow GA section. The main Bluesfest stage sucks moose balls. There's a reason I stayed away from that disaster all week, sticking to the fantastic side stages.
Even though it was a somewhat predictable setlist on some levels, I was surprised by some of the choices. As GregRVA said, it was light on Ghost and heavy on Being There. The crowd appreciated that, it seems. I was surprised that Spiders didn't show up, I think that's a first for the six shows I've seen since the album came out.
Nobody was called on stage for Kingpin, but he did pit the standers vs. the sitters for the scream.
Great show.

I'm making the big trip to Chicago for Lolla, and I'll be happy just with the scheduled performance. An aftershow performance would be all bonus.

I have a feeling the video may never see the light of day, at least not on broadcast TV. Rogers tends to play shows over the course of the year, but big name headliners are rarely amongst them. In fact, CanCon rules may be conspiring against us because I have never seen a non-Canadian artist's Bluesfest performance broadcast on TV, but I may be wrong about that.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for a sympathetic insider to leak the footage.
-
Looks like a great show; I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for Ashes and/or Radio cure in Ottawa this weekend. The new song sounds interesting, too. As great as the Montreal show was, I can't help but hope for something unexpected to pop up on the Bluesfest setlist.
Great reporting, everybody who was there.

Oh, I know who you know ... Tweedyzgirl ... she used my Gram Parsons avatar to make a custom one with words on it. So, I guess our avatars are look-alikes.
Bingo, it was Tweedyzgirl I was thinking of.
Guess what I changed my last.fm avatar to...

Yeah, he's got stress fractures from running too much.
Cool pictures! The first one looks like you're slow dancing at the junior high graduation dance; and the second looks like you're kneeling to kiss his ring.
Seriously though, what a cool thing. You're a part of Wilco history now!
I figured that out from Wendy's post in the Nova Scotia thread. Like I said over there, I just wanted an excuse to post a couple pictures. What the hell, here's one more.
-
Jeff's got stress fractures in his legs from jogging. Maybe he can't do a full-bore show yet? I'm actually quite impressed he's doing the tour of Canada at all with this fractures. Quite the trooper, no?
Well, that explains the question I posed in the Montreal thread. 'Twas really just an excuse to post those pictures, to be honest!
Don't I know you from last.fm, Wendy?
-
Now, I may be internet retarded, but has anybody brought up the fact that Jeff's leg was encased in a sort of brace/cast at the show? You can just barely make it out in the pictures my girlfriend took of me on stage for Kingpin:
-
More proof that Wilco and Jeff Tweedy are not only the most fan friendly act in rock & roll but also have one great sense of humor!
Well, he was all smiles and laughs helping me on stage, but when we shooks hands he said "Keep it brief buddy!"... I was afraid of overstaying my welcome and getting Bennetted from the band
-
Seems like Jeff's getting tired of explaining the whole Kingpin screaming routine, so for the second show in a row, he had someone from the audience come up on stage and explain to the rest of the crowd exactly what to do. I sense this will become pretty routine.
That was me!
I'm hopping right on the torrent; it's probably the only time I'll be able to hear myself on a Wilco recording of any sort...

Haha, thanks man. I just moved down here for work a few months ago, and I'm missing the Sens - the defending Eastern Conference Champion Sens - a lot.
When I was in Chicago I took in a Blackhawks game with my girlfriend... the cheapest seats in the house are $10! We sat in good seats for $30... that barely buys a between-periods beer in Ontario!
