  1. Sorry to ask again, but in the past week or so, has anyone heard anything about an opener for tonight?

Nothing is showing on any website about one.

I don't get off work until 7:30, the show starts at 8, and there's no way I'll get to the Fillmore in time if there's no opener.

    Anyone?

  2. I wasn't able to purchase until last Saturday night, but it sold out Saturday afternoon.

The more and more I listen to the new record, the more and more bummed I get about missing out on tix.

Doing some exploratory poking about to see if anybody snagged extras.

    Rock on, etc.,

    C

  3. The crowd was certainly peppered with idiocy. But... nothing I didn't expect. Jeff's reputation for banter has gotten around, obviously, so you know there's gonna be some jackasses at every show. I thought he dealt with it excellently, though, and that's what made the show for me. Plus, as soon as he gave a little back and forth and then launched into another song, all was fine. I heard pretty much no talking during the songs themselves and extremely limited cell phonery and such. While the music was playing, I thought the crowd was fine.

However, the few who suck are just a sign of the times, I guess. The ultra self-entitled behavior is annoying, but until it's legal to just shoot these people, I guess we have to put up with them. One jackass, sitting behind my wife, kept putting his feet up on the back of her chair, like this was a perfectly acceptable activity. She finally had enough of it and turned around to confront him, and he and his girlfriend/wife/whatever were giving my wife shit about being so upset about it. Seriously? I mean, really, you're putting your foot up against a total strangers ass and tapping it in time... and the person you're doing it to is the one who's "being rude"??? Ridiculous. Same goes to the guy behind me who kept stomping his feet on the floor in what he thought was keeping time with the songs. Dude, it wasn't... you're not a drummer, and Jeff doesn't need one in this setting... cut it out.

But... again... overall minor gripes. I had a great time. There's no way you're going to get a "silent" Jeff show anymore... if you ever could, really. So, just try to shut out the jackasses as much as you can, and focus on the man on stage. He makes everything work out fine. I wish I was going back tonight.

*Oh, yeah, wanted to agree on the Spiders vocals. I suspect, since we didn't see a mic change or see any sound guys running around to fix things, that maybe that was all planned. Pretty funny, if so.

  4. Great stuff... Jeff handled the loudmouths wonderfully... everybody in great spirits... lots of fun... Someone Else's Song from the lip of the stage w/no mic for the 2nd song... Cars Can't Escape... New Madrid... Walken... etc., etc., etc... I'll let someone else post the whole setlist instead of trying to piece it together right now, but those were my favorites. I'm friggin' tired and going to bed, I think.

One single small gripe... boo to the Boulder for jamming the chairs in so tight in their rows. It was sardine-esque in there. Cest la vie. Like I said... a small gripe... not near enough to mess up such a damn good night.

    Evenin', ya'll.

  5. We should get a PW via wilcoworld, non?

If not, someone please to inbox me with important word please, yes.

Regarding ticket prices, I thought they were a little steep, until I realized that they had included all the service charges and stuff in the price instead of surprising us with it at check-out. Knock ten to fifteen bucks off of the price you see and that's the "real" ticket cost. This pertains to the theater's website and not stubhub.

  6. I was living in Healdsburg when these tix went on sale, and I bought a pair. This was to be my first show at the world reknowned Berkeley Greek and I was really, really looking forward to it.

Then... my wife's company sent us to SoCal. The Inland Empire. Ugh.

My friend Tim got to use my tickets last night, not me.

    :ohwell

  7. I've moved to SoCal, but have tickets for NorCal cause I didn't know this move was coming when tix went on sale.

Anybody interested in trading 2 L.A. Greek tix (good ones, please) for 2 Berkeley Greek tix?

My pair are fan tix, so I will have to change the pick-up name for will call at the venue.

  8. Dr. Dog are soooooo good. Saw them last winter opening for the Black Keys in Lawrence, and just saw them again last week in L.A.. Just a great, great band.

If you aren't familiar with them, open an emusic account and grab everything there. You won't be sorry.
