MP3: Portastatic: "Sour Shores" It's been nearly five whole years since Superchunk last released a studio album, but the world ain't missing frontman (and Merge Records founder) Mac McCaughan: His other band, Portastatic, has been turning out a reliable stream of LPs in wake of the band's absence, jumping genres, exploring new sounds, and generally picking up the slack, motherfucker. Now, following last month's Who Loves the Sun film score, McCaughan returns with the official follow-up to last year's Bright Ideas. Due out October 10 on Merge, Be Still Please is said to "continue the full-on rock band sound of Bright Ideas but with more of an emphasis on the orchestration featured in his soundtrack work."
