frazman Posted July 26, 2006 Share Posted July 26, 2006 Dear all, I will be attending Lollapalooza in approx ten days and needless to say I am very excited as not only am I getting to see one of my favourite bands in their spiritual home, I am getting back to one of my favourite cities, Chicago. That is a big deal beacause as an Irishman living in London for the last four years, I don't get to visit very often. However, having spent a summer working in Chicago and living two blocks from Wrigley as a student nearly 7 years ago, I know how much the city rocks. However, this excitement has been tempered by the fact that my friend that I was due to be travelling with has had his plans destroyed by his inconsiderate f*ckhead employers who require him to stay in Ireland . This leaves me as a solo voyager for the weekend, something I am not altogether comfortable with. So I am hoping that some of the VC Chicago (and beyond) crew attending the festival might extend me a welcome and consider hanging out/having a brew or two with me over the course of the weekend. I would love to meet up with you guys and I have always wanted to meet you when I eventually made it back to Chicago. My quick blurb:James, 27 yrs old, Irish, living in London last 4 yrs, likes loads of music, sports (all the usua ones for a European - soccer etc, but unusually also likes baseball - big Cubs fan) - am attending the whole weekend and looking forward to seeing Wilco (obviously), My Morning Jacket, New Pornographers, The Frames, Flaming Lips, Ryan Adams, Sleater Kinney, Iron and Wine etc and of course, Chicago. Likes a beer , likes Chicago nightlife etc, and staying Northside for the weekend. I check it more for news than I post...but like your former self, I live a block from Wrigley (sheffield at grace) and am attending Lollapalooza. I have a three day pass and may be able to assist you in getting rid of your extra. ALSO, I currently have a show running at Second City here in Chicago. The group name is Doppelganger, and the show is called "V for Vacation." It runs Friday's at midnight in the Donny's SkyBox Theatre at North and Wells and is only eight bucks to get in. If you want a place to chill that weekend, you are more than welcome. We will have plenty of libations at my place, and hopefully you could attend the Second City show after Lollapalooza with my other friends who will be around. To all of you other VCer's looking for something to do after the LOLLA festivities on Friday, come on over and enjoy some Chicago Comedy to break the monotony of 150 live bands in one weekend.
