LouieB
There is much talk here about the upcoming Millenium Park shows and I just wanted to chime in with some info on the organization for which this show is being launched. Chicago Coalition for the homeless is a great organization that has been in existance for about three decades to deal with the issues of homelessness in Chicago. It was started by Les Brown and the mission was carried on by the late John Donahue, both of home I knew somewhat. While the Letters for Santa charity is a worthy cause, ths organization is multifacited including alot of advocacy and legal work on behalf of the homeless and supports organizations dealing with homelessness, a problem that never seems to go away and in fact tends to grow as affordable housing in Chicago disappears to gentrification and the elimination of public housing. Here is a link to their homepage.... Community based organizations like this are always hustling for funds and Wilco and all those supporting this show should be commended. Anyway, it is early and most of us are still in bed in our homes, so just a thought for those who are not; and I just felt the need to mention that once again our favorite band is doing great things even as it gets more and more famous. I have not yet gotten a ticket, but I am hoping for any seat in the pavillion today during the regular sale (honestly the entire pavillion has good sight lines and reasonable sound). Otherwise I may just camp out on the lawn just so I can hear and be there. LouieB
j4lackey
Wow, Lou. Thanks for posting this. Well said. Always nice to get a little perspective on an issue. I will be there and I hope we get to hook up, since you didn't make it to Indy. Always nice to rock out and support a good cause at the same time.
