PopTodd
He's kinda like Caetano Veloso is in Brazil.... but to the Israelis I saw a concert of his last night on PBS. It was not great, but there were some pretty cool songs. He also had a couple of guests -- Shawn Colvin and Jackson Browne, so that should tell you the kind of music it was. Still, the guitar played fingerstyle nylon-string guitar like a motherfucker. Somewhere between classical and flamenco style. The thing is, I remember going to see this guy with my Sunday School class, in the basement of a synogauge of a temple on the North Side of Chicago, about 23 years ago. That theater held about 50 people. The show they played last night, he was playing to 10,000 (maybe more), at Masada. Any of y'all see this? Most of you probably wouldn't have cared for it, but there is no doubt that the guy can play. And, it was surreal for me to see that same guy playing to an adoring audience that huge, after seeing him in a basement. Any of y'all familiar with him? Thoughts?
