JoeWP Posted July 26, 2009 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Hey all, I just moved to Phoenix a few months ago from Charlottesville VA, and am wondering, is there anything to do in this hell hole? I've yet to find any sort of culture or local music worth listening too. Any help? I've checked out all the record stores, and saw there were lot's of good shows coming through, but sadly missed most of them (but will not be missing yo la tengo in October) so yeah, anything fun to do, any cool places to hang out? dchunt11 Posted July 26, 2009 Share Posted July 26, 2009 Hi Joe,I lived in Phoenix for a couple of years and know a few things about it...There's a pocket of art spaces and venues near downtown on Grand Avenue. You will find Trunk Space, Paisly Violin and Tiki Bar, among other places. Also, there are some great little restaurants/art spaces in the historic districts near 5th Ave and Fillmore, and 7th Street, North of downtown. Tempe still seemed to have a lot going on for it, too.I used to love to get out of town and head up to Prescott. There was a lot going on there. There's a great little venue called The Raven Cafe up there. Tucson has a good, flourishing DIY scene, too. hope that helps!d Quote Link to post Share on other sites
