  1. The only new acoustic guitar I've seen him with or photos of him with is the Santa Cruz 000. I agree, it's odd to tour with so many vintage guitars; I was really shocked to see him break out that shaded-top 1938 Martin 000-18 for Acuff Rose in Lincoln.

  2. Gibson started using the long (pointed) pickguards on J-45's in 1955. Also, both of the J-45's I saw on stage at the Lincoln show in February had the pre '59 sunburst so I would guess both of the J-45's he takes on tour are between 1955-1958 models. The B-25 is anybody's guess. If I had to I would say 1964, give or take six years :P . On both account I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

By the way, he still has the one seen in IATTBYH, same Grover rotomatics, same little pictures above the fretboard on the treble side.

  3. best I could find (link below). It's close, but not right. I think Jeff is playing it capo 2 and the chords for the chorus are off. I'll post something if I figure it out. Until then, if you know the tabs, please let me in on the secret.

    Thanks

Actually, this tab is pretty much how I play it with the only exception being for the "pattern #2" I play an Em instead and hammer on the A string. I don't think there is a capo involved. YMMV.

  4. F# or Gb, I always get confused as to which is the correct description. Anyway, wrap your thumb over the top to play the note, the "2" on the E string. Oh, and by the way, ignore that open note on the "D" string; just concentrate on playing the bass line on the A and E strings and strumming an A chord in between. It's not easy if you don't play "Carter style" a lot.

  5. Froggie,

Once again, thanks for all the mp3s. I hate to tell you, but the tab for "Wait Up" on the gumbo page is accurate. The hard part is getting the rhythym down, but you probably already knew that. If you watch JT play the song in the IATTBYH dvd you'll see he plays it in standard tuning.
