This is such a strange weekend for me. The joy of having my daughter born, and grief at Jay's death. Jay era Wilco was the backdrop of my coming of age. I emailed him regularly, asking him for advice, talked about his new albums, etc.. he was such a kind, generous soul. The following email probably isnt of interest to anyone that IS NOT a gearhead...but I feel that it really captures the essence of what Jay was about. Thats true, although the instruments are nothing alike save for the fact that they both have strings. Completely different skillset.

I highly suggest Cindy Cashdollars videos. Ive been playing pedal/lap steel for many years, and in my opinion, her videos are the best for learning the instrument. Shes an awesome player.. www.cindycashdollar.com I use c6th tuning or Open G on lap steel. Em7 on pedal.
