Wow. All I can say is wow. This song is beautiful.

Found this poking around the site of Wilco's guitar tech. and luthier, Frankie Montuoro.
Here's the blurb they have on it:
"This guitar was designed and built for Jeff Tweedy.
The project stemmed from a love for those early 30's
Gibson Nick Lucas's. What a brilliant instrument and
design. And one of the really great attributes of some
of those guitars is 13 Frets to the body. Some feel
its the obviously great mixture of the 12 and 14 fret
counterparts. And there's really not many 13 Fret
guitars ready available.
We went for the great styling of the Waverly Banjo
Tuners. They not only have a classic look. But
function very much like tuners on Slot Head's.
Ergonomically speaking."

My dvd arrived today! All I'll say is that it's amazing.

In an article I read he said that the 12 string was copy of leadbelly's.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm pretty sure it's a Gibson.
I love the pickguard.

Give Jeff some credit, he did swallow a bug.

I'm so exctied to hear this!

Sending my sincerest condolences. I hope all the love and support from everyone here at Via Chicago can help to cheer you up in the days ahead.

Saw them last night in Philly, they were fantastic! It was a real treat to see them up so close.

The trailer looks sweet. If it's anything to go by it looks like there will be a lot of behind the scenes stuff which I think is a bonus.

Was that the Rockaplast show from 2004 by any chance? The sound is a little off on that one, I assume Wilco didn't get a soundcheck or the sound crew was just doing a really shitty job. It's still a pretty entertaining video, but the sound is a little rough. I am a fan of pretty much everything Nels brings to the table, but I do prefer War on War with the double acoustic guitar sound from YHF or the 2001 shows with Jay and Glenn.

It was the Rockplast Show. Your probably right about them not getting a sound check an having a bad sound crew, there are some other sound messups in that show. But it's still a great video, I love the sunglasses.

I hate it.
I've been listening to music my whole life and I'm pretty sure I know by now when something sounds right and when something sounds f*cked up. I have a bunch of live recordings of that song with Nel and his guitar sounds like it's out of tune. Either that or he's trying to do something different in the song that is just not working. The 1 minute of footage on IATTBYH where they rehearse the song on stage sounds perfect, I always thought that THAT is what that song should sound like live. All due respect to Nel of course...but it just isn't happening on that song.
Or hell maybe it's Jeff that's f*cking it up.
Anyone else notice this or am I alone on this island?
I noticed it too in one of their live shows from Germany. In the intro part of the song Nels slides something that looks like a slide, across the high parts of the strings past the bridge. My guess is that doing that puts the guitar out of tune.
I only noticed it in that one show which is from 04' I believe. In the newer shows it seems to be pretty close to being in tune.

I thought he was going by The Artist Formerly Known As Jay Bennett

They all have style but who has the most

As far as I can tell After August 6th the band is done touring until Oct. Jeff only has 2 dates between then, and Nels and Glenn are only touring for about a week in September.
That means there's, fingers crossed, around 2 months of studio time

I think Nels' Dano is a baritone.
