  1. I also think that the US administration will be extra understanding with Israel since they would probably like the Israeli air force to carry out another bombing raid on any Iranian nuclear centre at some point in the future, like they did with Iraq in the 80's.

Exactly. The Pres. is not at all feeling a sense of urgency about stopping this, in my opinion. Bush is perfectly happy to know that another nation is joining in on the long term attempt to cripple/put the hurt on Middle-Eastern regimes.

  2. I also wonder about how US/Saudi relations will hold......the Saudis are trying to get the US to intervene and the US has basically said no.

Well, the only way we've chosen to intervene is to overnight deliver bombs and missiles, no questions asked, to Israel.

    He actually is joking. :yes

    Apologies.

Damn, that's some dense sarcasm. :dontgetit :blush

  3. What you call "humanism", I call rampant anti-Semetism.

Let's just tone it down a little bit, ok?

Wow, I can't believe you're serious. I thought you were joking, at first.

Using your logic, anyone who criticizes the American gov't is anti-American, anyone who criticizes any government in Africa is anti-African, anyone who criticizes the Mexican government is anti-Mexican.

I don't suppose there are Israelis who'd be against this war. Are they anti-Semitic too?

I think maybe you're the one who needs to tone it down.

  4. It's kinda crazy that both of their best performances (imo) were in the first thing they'd ever done (& the one movie that most people never saw). I still watch Bottle Rocket at least once a month. It makes me happy on so many levels.

Tenenbaums is a great movie and still redeems them in my mind. A couple more stinkers down the line, though, and I might have to retract my statement.

  5. Oh and in case anyone was wondering, OK Go were awful but did a hilarious dance routine and Ted Leo was ok. But I think everyone forgot about that once Wilco came on.

The first thing to note, regardless of who was good and bad, is that the sound in the arena was awful. Worst sound I've ever heard. I'm sure it contributed to people's negative reactions about ok go and Ted Leo. Second thing to note is that Ok Go were indeed horrible. The lead singer was clearly a douche, and he even talked about how he went to Brown and the last time he was there, he was "really, uh, drunk." Wow, interesting. You're a jackass.

Ted Leo was great, as usual. I can't imagine him ever being bad. But the sound was so awful, I can understand how people might not have really seen his charm. Due to the huge echo, there was no way to hear any notes that he played, and the bass was nearly inaudible. Horrible, horrible sound. Seriously. It was a major disappointment because Ted Leo is so good, and the sound was so so bad.

Wilco was great. I really like how they've changed some of the songs. Even the older, frequently-played songs were fresh to my ears. The setlist wasn't even that crazy, but they were great the whole night. Oh yeah, and the horns were awesome!!!!!!!!!!! Walken was pretty cool. I've avoided downloading it because I ruined myself with AGIB, so for a first listen, it was a nice surprise.

In a Future Age was a great opener. No question about that. I've wanted to see that live for so long, and to get it as an opener was, well, a gift.

    Anyway. The truth:

    1) Terrible, terrible sound. Horrible. Echos prevented the comprehension of notes being played and created an awful drum sound that made everything seem off-time.

    2) Ok Go, not good at all. Not even a little.

    3) Ted Leo was great, but his excellent guitarwork, lyrics, and just about everything that he does best was wholly marred by the sound.

    4) Wilco was great too. No doubt about that.

Maybe some other time, I'll get to see Wilco and Ted Leo play together in a place that has better acoustics. As for this one, the sound basically made mediocre what could've been a landmark evening.

  6. I've found that using a good microphone to record from your amp is just about as good as a line in. Do you have a 1/8" jack? Actually, this might not be any help at all. I don't really know how PC audio works (I use a Mac).
