  1. You guys are hi-larious. I'm really enjoying the color commentary, at least it's keeping me from cleaning the house.

I gotta question...going tomorrow night, is there a coat check at the Riv? I've been there a zillion times, but it seems like always in the summer....

Also, besides Green Mill & Uptown Lounge, anyplace else to go for a drink beforehand?

& FINALLY (sorry), whatcha think is the latest I could show up & still have a decent place to stand?

Thanks all & keep up the funny.

I had to work last night so I couldn't get there until a little after 7, but I still got a good spot on the main floor in the closest section. Just a little off to the side. But hey, it was a nice view of Pat ;) Maybe I lucked out.

  2. Hi there,

This Wilco show seems to be the hottest end-of-summer concert going in the Windy City. As such, and due to a series of unfortunate events, I wasn't able to snag tickets. I was really hoping to bring my friend to her first-ever Wilco show, but alas. If you, the good people of Via Chicago, have any (2) extra tickets to the show, I will gladly pay face + fees + my endless gratitude and affection. Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it! :wub

  3. Well, I tried to request "Far Far Away" (that's a little less obscure, right? :) ), but I'm a pretty soft-spoken gal and Jeff couldn't hear me. Those around me, who were much louder than I, were screaming for "Airline to Heaven," so that's what we got in the end. Works for me, I think it's a great song too.

  4. So I guess I was that arrogant self-professed "biggest Wilco fan" who "needed to hear him play a YHF demo song." Just wanted to clear my good name and say that I was not being intentionally obscure with my song request, though I think most fans should understand that without me having to explain.

When the opportunity arose to request a song (any song!), a million choices ran through my head. By the time I got my chance, there were already a bunch of great songs on the list, so I went with "Venus Stop the Train." Could I have been more "mainstream"? Yes, of course! But this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance for me, and I wanted to hear one of my favorites that I'd never heard performed live before. At the time, I didn't think Jeff would be playing every request, so I didn't expect him to play mine anyway. I know "Venus" is more of a piano diddy and all, but I figured I'd throw it out there. It didn't hurt to try, right?

In my own defense, one should go to a Jeff solo show expecting to hear some rarities because, well, it isn't a Wilco show, folks! I didn't know every single song that was played, but I still enjoyed them all.

Anyway, I'm trying not to be personally offended about this. I just wanted to say that I wasn't trying to come off as pretentious or any such thing. I just wanted to hear a nice song.. :ohwell
