  1. Have one tix for the 5/17 Pageant show in StL to sell. Am asking only the $29 face value of it. I paid A LOT more than that for it, but a personel situation has come up and I can't afford the extra day in the city for it. I have no idea how this works, so I will leave my contact email address here (jasctt at g mail dot com) and I will just start with the first person to respond seriously.

I will be in line for the first two shows, so I can assume that would be the best time for the exchange, since I live far far away from StL.

    Thanks.

I work late today, so it might be later this evening before I can reply to anyone interested.

  2. Well, I was hoping for Andrew Bird, which would've been great. I don't know Low or this guy and just hope it doesn't suck. I've got tix for all 3 nights and if, watching the opening act that first night, and if they suck, that's gonna be a painful three hours over the course of those nights.

  3. Anyone got any info? I'm there all 3 nights (yeah, I f'n rule) and am hoping someone's got the 411. Andrew Bird would be cool cause I saw him in KC, have all his shit and the guy write kick ass songs, plus, he'd probably sit in with the boyz in da band.

  4. I haven't read through this whole thread, and I ain't gonna. What I will say is that i think MA1 is a f'n masterpiece. Every song is great, including BB's stuff. that eing said, I do feel that the wilco stuff on the second volume outshines most of what BB does with his stuff. i think that it is just the fact that they had grown so much as craftsmen after ST. So, I tend to sometimes to not listen to some of the BB stuff on MA2. BB just seems kinda one trick guy and I could never get into his stuff. I was into Wilco before MA1, so no big surprise I dig their stuff more. Will a volume 3 happen? Tweedy has said he'd love to go for it but I wonder if that is true. By now, he has really eclipsed a lot of his peers when it comes to the songwriting that BB would seem more like a sidekick and less a partner at this point. SO, in the end, be thankful for what you got from this experiment and enjoy those MA out takes! That's volume 3 right there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Call me crazy, but when other folks heard this latest B-side, did anyone elsse flash to the Dan song "Change of the Guard?" I have to admit that the organ playing sounds VERY much the same. I'm cool with it. I love Wilco and I LOVE The Dan. Their cover of "Any Major Dude" is the tits. Was just curious if anyone else got a Dan vibe, too.

  6. The Pageant sold out(The Friday Show) in like five minutes. And now you can get tickets for 150 bucks on Ticketexchange. Awesome.

I tried for tix on both pre-sales and got none, but we got two tix to each night when the GA went onsale and I will be in line to get into the HALO early. that I can promise. God, I love these fuckin' guys!

  7. I thought it interesting someone else in the band did not fill Nils parts after seeing the tech trouble he was having. It would have been cool to maybe hear Mikael or Pat fill in with some keys or even Glen with a improve drum solo in place of the slide.

Standing right in front of Nels, there was a faint buzz coming from his instrument every time he tried to play it and it appeared they tried to fit different lines into it to get it going and it finally worked and it was pretty funny. To be honest, when I saw Jeff mouthing "Walken" to the band in the encore, I was kinda bummed cause I've hear dit so many times, but the great trouble Nels had made it my fave version ever.

Hey did anyone notice Jeff wiping what appeared to be a tear (maybe) away after either "One By One" or "At my Window...?" At least, it looked like it from my POV.

Caught glenn walking out the front door after the soundcheck. Very cool. Pat And Mike came out earlier (met them before). Knew for sure The Tweed wasn't going out the front.

Yeah, getting in the fan club line was pretty F-ing sweet. Can't wait for the recording!!! LOUDEST SHOW EVER!!!! Never again w/o ear plugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: To the hot bitch with the Joey Lauren Adams voice who wouldn't STFU during Doe's great set: AAARRRRGGGHHH!!!!

  8. Yep, I noticed the change right after I posted that. I think we've squared away the relationship now.

i think that for the first song, the boys should clearly do something from SBS. I like "What Light" or "You Are my Face" for that. in a dream, I'd love to see them do "Germany." For the second number, if the fucking TV boys woud give them 6 or 7 minutes, i wish they'd do RE&B -> I got you. man, they would rock that shit so hard. It'd be a classic, a la Neil doin' "Rockin'" or that great Costello/Beasties number!

I'm sure SNL will play it safe. The bastards!

  9. Some standout tracks from tonight:

    Pieholden Suite- no explanation needed

Blood of the Lamb- this song blew me away with all of the subtle nuances and layers of little sounds.

Less Than You Think- the song is beautiful, and I actually really enjoyed the drone (AB added a lot to it! :wub )

I'm thrilled with everything played on all nights, but I was really holding out for Secret of the Sea and Someday Some Morning sometime. Two fucking amazing MA tunes that deserve to be played.

  10. and I'll take these with a cherry on top:

    pieholden suite

    less than you think

    venus

    more like the moon

    woodgrain

    at my window

    wowee zowee

I really want them to do someday some morning sometime. It has a very personal meaning for me and I think it might be one of Jeff's most understated, loveliest vocal performances. I'd die tomorrow if they did it.

  11. I'll be taping all 5 nights.

I've never had a problem bringing a camera into the Riv, but I haven't seen a show there in a while. You can call them before to make sure.

God bless, man. I am so jonesing for these shows, all of them. Good vibes to the band, to you and to all lucky enough to be there and to all of us lucky to hear their music through the work you do. 3/8/8 can't get here fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. It was definitely a fun show. Even though with the exception of Company in My Back, Box Full of Letters, She's a Jar, and Pick Up the Change, it was the same set they played in Columbia in a different order.

Did anyone else just want to hit the "MC" in the eye with a cinder block?

    Yeah, he annoyed me. too.

  13. I gotta agree. I was hoping for a bit more SBS stuff, esepcial Either Way, What Light or SBS. I loved everything they played and LOVED hearing the AM stuff especially Boxfull of Letters, but What Light in the necore would've been amazing. Still, one can't complain at all.

Is it me, or does Pat kinda look like Will Ferrell's younger, thinner, bearded, English looking brother? Seeing him right next to me on the sidewalk really made me think of this.

  14. Right after i saw both Pay and Mike on the sidewalk, I was trying to find a good place to park my car. as soon as i parked it, I could hear the band going into Pick Up The Change. Here's the soundcheck list I heard (in order):

    Pick Up The Change

    Poor Places

    Say You Miss Me

    At My Window...

There might have been more, but that is all I heard. The band played full versions of each and it appeared, I think, that Nels stayed around a bit longer than the rest of the guys checking his gear. We were all over by the admissions gate but that is what it appeared to me to be.

Also, did anyone hear what that rud announcer guy said about elton John at the end of the show? Did he call hi ma fag or say "Fuck Elton John?" Cause I know it turned more than a few heads where I was, but there was so much goddamn pot being smoked that I could barely hear or make sense of anything.

Again, I saw at least 2 tapers, so hear's hoping the show pops up soon. Every song was great and I thik this was the definitive Shot In The Arm. Clearly, these guys love playing this music and with each other as they ever have. LEt's hope this lineup can stay togather for a few more years!

  15. I can't believe no one has posted anything on this show yet! it wasa serious corker. The second time seeing the guys in a year now and they were amazingly intense. Everything was great. I got to meet and see both pat (walking down the sidewalk next to me on 19th st.) And also saw Mike outside the tour bus on his cel. Also got to watch the soundcheck, they played a couple of songs that didn't show up in the proper show. I was bursting all day.

Saw at least two tapers at the show. Hopefully, it shows up soon. I was just glad to be there and see so much.

  16. I was thinking of all the time and effort the band put into the WG songs. If anyone 'should ' be there performing, it's Wilco and Bragg. It's not like they're owed anything, but it would've been the right thing. (frinstance the Mermaid Ave work was profiled in a major way in the travelling Woody exhibit that toured the US in 2000..I saw it in DC).

I guess it just wasn't possible this time. I'll get over it. :)

Wouldn't hold my breath on ever seeing Bragg and Tweedy (Wilco) onstage together anytime soon. Also don't expect a MA III, unless the cull it from the out takes from the first 2 records, which most of us have already.

  17. The matrix is done!

I should get it and post it in the next day or two...

This show is great! Just one question: How did the taper get access to the SBD? I know the band, as far as I know, is cool with AUD taping but they don't allow tapers to jack into the SBD. Not that I am complaining. This is a sweet show.

can't wait to see these guys on 9/19 and 10/13!!!!

  18. Opinions?

Have been a number of VERY good o great AUDS show up from the current tour. I think my faves have been ALL of the AUDs from the short spring Australia tour. they sound as good as any SBD I have heard recently. Another great AUD was taped on 6/25/07. I've got about 20+ shows taped from this tour and I haven't gotten through them all but they have all sounded good so far. I think the AUS shows are really good though. Soneone knew what they were doing there.
