  1. I'll let someone else post the set list. Here are my personal highlights/what I can recall:

--Opened with "Someday Some Morning Sometime." Really wanted to see this one.

--"One Sunday Morning." He said he hadn't tried it solo before. Mesmerizing.

--"You Are Not Alone" One of Tweedy's best compositions IMHO

--"Pecan Pie" He said it was the most requested on the website. Always a treat.

--Closed with "Shot in the Arm"

    In no particular order:

    Not For The Season

    Ashes of American Flags

I Am Trying to Break Your Heart

    One Wing

    Remember The Mountain Bed

    Born to Die Alone

    Bob Dylan's 49th Beard

    Please Tell My Brother

    Jesus etc.

    New Madrid

    Box Full of Letters

    California Stars

    Passenger Side

I'm The Man Who Loves You

Jeff was hilarious as usual. He talked about the Colorado 51st state secession thing, and had some funny interactions with the peanut gallery.

  2. I fear that recordings will be hard to find if they aren't allowing taping. Dylan is known for not allowing tapers.

Can anyone who's seen any of the Americanarama shows confirm whether they've seen mic stands. Commonplace at Wilco shows, but if you haven't seen any than sadly the best bet will be stealth (lower quality) recordings. Haven't seen anything on any live show torrent sites yet...

  3. His perspective is that the show was disappointing and that they should have played more originals. My perspective is that it looks like a truly once-in-a-lifetime set list and that he is failing to appreciate what he witnessed. If someone else has the right to complain, then I have the right to call them out if I think that dissatisfaction is unwarranted.

  4. I stand corrected Wilco can do no wrong! It was the best time I have ever seen them!

    I'm done!

If you walk away from a show like that with anything other than amazement that you've had a chance to experience something that every other Wilco fan would kill to experience, it may be a sign that you need to adjust your expectations--that's all I'm saying. Now I'm done too.

  5. Where did anyone whine about not hearing Jesus or impossible I think you need to get a clue?

When I wake up to view such an incredible set list and then go to via Chicago and find a few people complaining about too many covers and not enough originals, yeah, I think that's whining and people need to get a clue. Would you feel better if I'd said "Magazine Called Sunset" instead of "Jesus etc?"

  6. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, personally I think you're completely clueless if you're complaining about "too many covers." This is Wilco's own festival, and they played a great bunch of songs. Get a clue and learn to appreciate a once-in-a-lifetime experience instead of whining because they didn't play "Jesus etc" or "Impossible Germany." Both of those songs were played for the whole world to see on the Bonnaroo webcast.

I guess Tweedy and the gang could walk on water and some people would still not be satisfied.

  7. It's not that steep. Distance from stage to front row is a little larger than average. Sound in the first 50 rows is great. From around row 30 up, you also have a spectacular view of the foothills/flatlands east of the Amphitheatre. Rows are actually pretty roomy, so no fear of falling. In fact, if they built it today they'd probably make the rows (they're 70 or so of them) a little thinner to accomodate more people.

Have seen probably 100+ shows there. The more I go, the more I appreciate it, especially when Wilco is onstage.

  8. I almost can't believe we were as lucky as we were to get to see two shows like this. Both of them were utterly amazing, although I too preferred the second night. During some of the songs last night, I just felt like the music was being directly injected into my soul. It just felt overwhelming. There is no other band that can do that to me.

You said it. I have such high expectations for this band and they never disappoint. Last night was a true gift to the fans. I haven't felt that exhilarated after a show since I had 3rd row for Madison Feb '10. And I had much better seats for Friday's show, which was also thoroughly enjoyable.

  9. I was just trying to figure it out. Thanks for posting.

I've probably seen 20+ Wilco shows dating back to A.M. (more if you count Tweedy solo), and I have never seen a better set list. Tweedy put a lot of thought into the song selection tonight. Only 7 repeats out of 27 tunes! "Dreamer in My Dreams" and "Summer Teeth," for God's sake!

Absolutely spectacular. Two stellar, amazing-sounding nights of Wilco in the world's most beautiful amphitheatre. Thanks, guys. It was better than in my wildest dreams. Maybe Santa Fe isn't so far away any way...

  10. OK, so I'm sure I'm off on the song order, but here's what he played tonight. Not a single repeat from Friday!

    Sunken Treasure

    Remember the Mountain Bed

    Wait Up

    She's a Jar

    ELT

    Summer Teeth

    I'll Fight

    Either Way

    Theologians

    I Must Be High

    Radio King

    You and I

    Forget the Flowers

    How to Fight Loneliness

    Not For The Season

    Someday Some Morning Sometime

    Passenger Side

    Red Eyed and Blue

    I Got You

    Heavy Metal Drummer

    Fake Plastic Trees

Dreamer in my Dreams (without PA)

I thought tonight's show was better than last night. The crowd was much less boisterous, and Tweedy made light of how bad last night's crowd was (before repeatedly reminding us that he was kidding and he knew that a lot of us were there for both shows). Someone yelled out "Boulder sucks" at one point and Tweedy said "Every place kinda sucks. You have the mountains, so things can't suck too much." He also denied an autograph to the same fan who asked last night. Said he hiked Mt. Sanitas today; it's one of the best hikes in town, and I'm sure he appreciated the view from the top.

I'll leave it to others to correct the order of the set list. The first 3 and the last 6 are all accurate...

  11. Wow. A lot of hating on the crowd going on here. Other than the guy in front of us (we were 10th row far left) who puked mid-Handsome Family, I thought people were pretty quiet and respectful (other than singing along) during the songs. Were a lot of the shouted comments between songs stupid? Of course, but as usual Tweedy's replies were consistently hilarious. My two favorites were the guy who yelled "Dispensaries" for no apparent reason, spuring the pot discussion, and the guy who yelled out "You owe us a Kidsmoke!" near the end of the show, to which Tweedy replied "Do you know I'm doing two shows?" If you thought the crowd was invasive, I can only assume you didn't see them in Aspen last September, where most of the crowd aggressively talked over the first 45 minutes of the show.

Musically, I thought it was great. Jeff's guitar sounded superb, and other than the vocal issues during "Spiders," the sound was stellar. Highlights for me were the PA-less "Someone Else's Song," which got people going after the problems with the opener, "The Ruling Class," "You are Not Alone," "New Madrid" and "I'm Always in Love." I don't like "Impossible Germany" as much as most others, but this version was powerful, and Tweedy had some funny comments on his lyrics afterward.

Can't wait to see tonight's set list. One thing's for sure--he owes me a Kidsmoke!

  12. I went with the two-pronged attack - I went for Saturday while my wife tried Friday for me. I wound up getting Section A center, second row, for both nights! This (almost) makes up for getting shut out of the Bowery, since the Bowery is about 2,000 miles closer to home than Boulder.

Had 2nd row the last time he played the Boulder Theater in '06. You're gonna love it--he'll be about 5 feet away from you max.

  13. is it possible to get a cab? i hope i didn't make too big a mistake booking at the marriott! thanks for the help bouldereagle, i appreciate it!

There are cabs, but not so many that you shouldn't call ahead (although they should be outside after the show). It's not that bad of a walk either; go down Pearl St.

The Marriott is very nice and centrally located, it's just not that close to the Mall. The Boulderado, which is much closer to the venue (it's literally a block away), may be cheaper than the Marriott, but I'm not sure.

Either way, hope you enjoy Boulder. Jeff will make sure your trip is worthwhile...

  14. Just booked my stay at the Marriott downtown! Can't wait for this :) :)

Be advised that the Marriott is not really downtown. It's about a mile walk from the venue through the Whittier neighborhood. If you want to stay a block from the venue right off the Boulder Mall, try the Boulderado. The St. Julien is also close and is the ritziest hotel in town.

    See you there!

  15. Wilco presale is a joke. I and others here in Boulder have tried for years. At 10:01 they say they're sold out. What is their allotment--4 tickets/night?

Regular onsale is tomorrow at 10. Hope I can get them before they sell out...
