  1. I was about 25 "rows" back on the GA floor and from where I was standing Wilco seemed to get a really good reception from the crowd. Lots of fan reactions after a stellar guitar solo or a Tweedy lyric flub ... they had the audiences attention and held it through their entire set. I'll second the fact that they definitely won over some new fans with their short but sweet performance.

  2. I have to say, give Leroy his props. One of the things that bothered me the most about Jay was how loud his keyboards would be in the mix. Listening to soundboards from the ST days, it's almost enough to make my head explode ... especially on what I think of as "guitar songs," like Always In Love.

In live performances, Jay frequently was to Wilco what Donna was to the Grateful Dead.

Glad you liked that 7/4/98 show, mountain bed. :cheers

that's a great Dead analogy! Donna could really make or break a show in her day.

  3. Bad news:

    Hello Rick,

I hope our presence at the fest was a positive one. I sure had fun.

Although Wilco was my personal highlight, we were not allowed to record

them. They like total creative control.

Check out Michael Franti that we did. It'll air this fall.

  4. Hey, does anyone know if there is recording of this show available. Also, thanks for posting the setlist.

I was sitting two rows back from a guy taping (approx 10 rows back, dead center). There were a few screamers in the area so hopefully the recording turns out well and is shared.

For being my first Wilco show I was totally impressed with how tight the guys sounded (it's one thing to hear it on a live disc, another to experience for yourself as I'm sure you all know). Nils is a mad man, the guy doesn't miss a beat and leaves it all on the stage :rock . And Jeff moved around quite a bit for a guy with a cast on his right foot and was pretty chatty (more than I expected).

The sound in that tiny theatre was GREAT!! I like the slow/building openers so Hell is Chrome was a perfect choice to start (contrary to popular opinion I'm sure), and to hear Ashes in the last encore was icing on an already huge and delicious cake.

All in all I thought it was a fantastic show! Thank you Wilco!

Wow, that Montreal recording is sweet! Thanks for the links

    cheers

  6. Well that was much easier than the pre-sale. Scored 6 center section row K. I haven't received my call about the pricing mishap but won't mind paying full price for tix like these! Really looking forward to the show, it's a great venue.

To the taper, I remember reading that a show in Montreal last year (Metropolis) was taped from a direct board feed, does the band often allow that? I figured if anyone would know ...

    Cheers
