  1. How about "Do You Realize" by the Flaming Lips. I heard it this afternoon and as usual it made me cry.

Lyrics to Do You Realize? :

Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face

Do You Realize - we're floating in space -

Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry

Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know

You realize that life goes fast

It's hard to make the good things last

You realize the sun doesn't go down

It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh

Do You Realize - that everyone you know

    Someday will die -

And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know

You realize that life goes fast

It's hard to make the good things last

You realize the sun doesn't go down

It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

  2. for the sake of completeness you should add the Kicking Television movie, even though unreleased (the one that was passed around here like crazy around christmas '05?)

I forgot all about that one until I read this. That one scene where Jeff tried to kick the screen in on that old TV still cracks me up. I mean, the fact that it didn't break was one thing but his technique was just awesome. :worship

  3. I would be perfectly happy with Wilco putting out another album that resembles Summerteeth. I love the poppy feel of the songs without all of the jamming or whatever it is that the latest albums seem to do. I just can't sing along to anything newer than AGIB and I kind of miss having an entire album that I can sing along to. I also love horns in songs. Horns and banjos.

  4. I find people without hobbies odd. Everyone should have something that they're interested in whether it's crafty stuff, collecting, music, books, art, cooking, etc. I just find it really strange when there isn't anything.

That said, I have about 24231 hobbies and I'm still odd, so maybe it's just me.

  5. My 3 year old daughter hugging my ex-husband's 4 year old son whenever she sees him and saying that she'll miss him before he leaves. My ex's wife and I can't wait until our older boys can tell people that their brother and sister are getting married - to each other. We kind of cracked up about it at church today.

I also love that my ex-husband's wife is one of my good friends. It definitely makes life a lot easier.

  6. That sucks, but the doctor was probably just covering his ass. There's always a small chance that your son had something more serious than swimmer's ear, and it would be really bad if the doctor just called in a prescription without seeing your kid and have it turn out to be something worse.

Yeah, I totally understand why we had to go in. It doesn't mean it's not a pain in the ass though.

  7. My son gets swimmers ear just about every time he goes swimming. I was out of the drops and called the doctor to see if they would call in more. Nope, I have to get him out of school early, arrange a pick up for my 8 year old, drop my 4 year old off at grandmas, drive 40 minutes to the doctor's office, wait around forever at the pharmacy, miss my other son's soccer game, and pay a $25 copay for the office visit and $11 for the Rx. If a kid gets swimmers ear that much, can't they just look back at his chart and say, "yeah, I guess they probably do know what it is I'll save everyone some time and just call in the stupid drops." Seriously, it the whole process cost me $36 in co-pays and $20 for dinner and ate up 3 hours of my afternoon. Ugh!

  8. Ok, I can see doing this as "tough love" for your 15 year old kid who is out of control, but a 5 year old? Maybe instead of hanging out in front of the 7-11, the kid should be hanging out at the playground or in the back yard. There are other ways to teach your kid that fire isn't something to mess with. Although, in a perfect world, if the kid was having problems with fire and self control a referral to a psychiatrist would be ideal. However, she may not have the resources (money, insurance, etc.) to cover that.

Oh, and as far as cartoons go, Adventure Time is where it's at.
