I have an extra ticket for Wednesday night. You can pick up the ticket from me at the Tuesday night show, near me in the District (Foggy Bottom/Dupont/Woodley Park areas), or I can fedex it to you (at cost).

I've been screaming "Candyfloss!!" at every show I've been to for the last few years, to no avail.
Let's hope you have better luck getting your request played.

I'm a fan of J.S. Bach, btw. Not a lot of people at his gigs, either.
Bach annoys me. With him, it used to be about the music. Now, it's all about his fixer-upper in the Hamptons.

I don't deny that SBS shows that the band is a great bunch of musicians playing really well together, with intricate, complex lyrics that reward multiple listens.
But if that's what I wanted, I would just listen to Steely Dan.
-
But only because the 5 preceeding albums are so stellar.
I don't count the MA albums as real Wilco albums either.

My Spoon is too big.
In all seriousness...AGIB took about a year for me to fall in love with. I hope SBS eventually catches me off guard.
Can I join the group formerly known as the support group? My feelings for SBS went from lukewarm to non-existent. I listen to A.M. all the time now.
Also, have they played a new song in the past 18 months? I don't mean to say that they constantly need to break out new stuff, but I'm ready to hear what direction they are going in next (because SBS seemed more like a retrenchment). Wasn't there a rumor on this board that they had a whole album of post-SBS material in the can? Let's hear it!

Don't wear your nice shoes when you go out in New Orleans. The place is underwater, and you don't want to know what gets spilled/discharged onto the floors of the bars in that town.

Who's going to either the Philadelphia show or the Tuesday 9:30 Club?
I will be at the 930 Club. I'll be the jackass up on the balcony screaming "CANDYFLOSS!!!"
Would like to introduce my friend and son to fellow Wilco fans. You will prolly run into a few at the show.

9:30 !
in Just A Fan
930 shows are really good. Tried both days to get 2 tickets with no luck.I hate to give any ticket brokers my money , but I simply cant miss one of these shows.
What are the best broker sites ?
I sucked it up and bought a ticket from Stubhub. Prices there seem the best.

The version of "Pick Up the Change" from the 930 Club, Sept 26 2001 is one of my favorite live tracks of all time. Jeff's harmonica solo is great. Sorry I'm not geeky enough/tech savvy enough to post a link to the song--the show is widely available, and I am sure someone else can post it.

9:30 !
in Just A Fan
It's really important for me to get tickets to both night's shows. So when the presale drops, I would appreciate it if you could all hang back until I purchase mine.
Thx.

Perfectly poised for another show at the 930 Club.

Forgive me if this has been posted in another thread, but is there any speculation as to what the band in doing during the touring hiatus (new recording, solo projects, etc)?

When you wake up feeling old, can you be where you want to be?

If you look on any discussion board right now, this article is being lambasted. Mainstream news (like Slate) have also taken SFJ to task for this.
Anytime I read anything by this author in the New Yorker, I get the impression that no one at the New Yorker knows anything about contemporary music, but they desperately want to seem like they are hip. Tragic.

I'm waiting for them to go this route.
You know that guy in the center of the Orleans cover? He's now in the U.S. House of Representatives. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Hall_(New_York)
Also, I think the description that most often accompanies this album cover is "pre-gay consciousness."

Why not a more fulsome version of "Wishful Thinking":
Fill up your mind with all it can know
Don't forget that your body will let it all go
Fill up your mind with all it can know
What would we be without wishful thinking?

I'm embarrassed to say I, like every other dude who smoked too much pot in high school, used the old saw from "Scarlet Begonias":
Well, I ain't always right but I've never been wrong.
It seldom turns out the way it does in a song.
Once in a while you get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right.

I'd go with "alt-country", "the American Radiohead", or "dad-rock".
Wilco isn't the American Radiohead, Radiohead is the British Wilco

Affirmative. You can practically see the evil running through that guy. This photo was taken right before lightning bolts shot out of his drumsticks and small woodland creatures everywhere ran for cover.
* props to Wendy for the photo
So when Glenn's deal with the devil runs out, will he turn back into Ken Coomer?

Anyone meeting up ahead of time?
dcd
I recommend Miller's, right on the downtown mall, about four blocks away from the Pavilion.
I'll be the guy with the "Pat Sansone is God" t-shirt on.
