Damn I was hoping to hear this tomorrow
-
Definitely a great show, the 2nd encore was amazing
I liked how this was the 4th time I've seen Wilco, and they still played 9 songs I'd never heard live before.
But my request for Pieholden Suite was unanswered
-
a couple of the new songs were:
shake it off (I think thats what it's called)
lets not get carried away
side with the seeds (I'm not positive about that name at all, but thats what it sounded like to me when he said the name of it)
highlights for me were radio cure, poor places, she's a jar, side with the seeds and passenger side
I was a little surprised that they played a shorter set than on friday (this show didn't clock 2 hours), but Jeff said they had a reason and that he was sorry
maybe if that bunny didn't go on and waste 10 minutes again they could have gotten in more songs, but it was still a great show all around, and I'm not disappointed in the 2 shows at all
-
After seeing them twice last month from the first row, I thought that I might feel a little "meh" about yet another show being that I was about 20 rows back. Boy was I wrong. This was a terrific show -- one of the best I have seen.
The song selection was excellent, and I thought that I might have a complete coronary when I recognized Sunken Treasure which is easily in my top 3 Wilco songs. I loved the full band, rockin' version; much more guitar oriented than any that I have heard. I guess the one thing about it I missed was Jeff's soaring vocals that he does when he plays it solo. If he ever incorporates those with this version, it might put me in the stratosphere.
Other song highlights were Mountain Bed (took me a minute to figure out what it was ), Via Chicago (flat out blistering), Walken (keeps getting tighter and tighter), Theologians, Hell is Chrome, Handshake Drugs, and Let's Not Get Carried Away. Really, the entire show was a highlight for me and one that I am looking forward to getting a copy of.
Frankly, I think the audience was a little flat. While everyone stood most of the time in my section, it took more than a few songs to loosen people up. By the encore most people were dancing and enjoying themselves.
Anyway, a great time was had by all. For those of you keeping score at home, I took my son to his first show tonight. Not sure if it was all the excitement, or being up late the night before, but he was asleep before the end of Muzzle of Bees He said he liked it though and wants to go again
And it was great seeing all the VC peeps. Was sitting just in front of MsY and Wendy, but I'll wait for one of them to chime in and speak of their great fortune!
Edie
I think I was sitting directly infront of you at the show (an 8-10 year old boy was behind me and I know he was asleep during the show)
I probably contributed to your opinion of the stale crowd because I don't sing or dance, but did you notice how many times people left to go get beer? I thought that was a problem with the crowd, and the people infront of me were obnoxious talkers throughout the show too

drumming bunny came on before wilco, made absolutely no sense to me, and they never offered an explanation for him

-
good set, I hope sunken treasure and company in my back carry over to chicago
looks a little short to me too, but thats probably standard length
-
in general night 2 is usually better
good luck getting tickets though
-
for his sake I hope he was drunk
-
not an entire setlist, just a couple songs you wold like to here
here's mine:
1. Kamera
2. Via Chicago
3. Company in my Back
4. Sunken Treasure
5. Pot Kettle Black
6. Can't Stand It
7. California Stars
8. The Lonely 1
9. Radio Cure
I figure to hear maybe 2-3 of them over both nights
-
I want a rematch
-
personally in my opinion wilco should be playing whatever they want, but I understand that they have not yet hit peak popularity, and to attract a wider audience of fans it might be smarter for them to keep playing the same old hits so they suck in more fans. And then the old fans get to hear the new songs, so in a way everybody wins
but yea, I would love it if they shook up their setlists a lot
-
all I want to hear is company in my back, via chicago, new songs and for the band to be having a good night
-
I went on friday two
second time I've seen the kings open for people
first time they were godawful, this time they were a little more mature, but still pretty bad
just not my style of music I guess.
Dylan was incredible though, best performance I've seen him give
-
he's an awesome drummer
its a stretch to say he's the most talented of all time (which he's not), but he's perfect for wilco
-
If I didn't have any friends, I'd be going to both too.
However, it's at the end of my Thanksgiving break from college, and I want to be able to visit before I go back.
I have the advantage of being in highscool so I see my friends at home year round so its worth it to miss out on one weekend for wilco
-
These shows are officially sold out. Wow. Quickest I've seen at the Auditorium.
yea, these shows were much harder to get tickets to then I anticipated
just glad to be going to both shows
-
bob dylan
bruce springsteen
radiohead
U2
Neil young
the who/rolling stones (depends on how good you think their new records are)
-
alright got 3rd row in the first balcony off of ticketmaster for the saturday show
not bad at all considering the balcony isn't very far back there
-
my god
first on Wednesday I try right at 10 and get shut out for the saturday show, so I settle for friday
then this morning I try right at 11 and get shut out for the saturday show
for two presales this is absolutely ridiculous
If I get shut out tomorrow words won't be able to express my anger
-
How's row Q? Anybody been around this row for a show?
Yea I had M once so I was pretty close
If my memory serves me right the orchestra has two sections, and you're one of the first few rows after the cutoff of the first section, but don't get me wrong, they are still very good seats
-
ticketmaster still has tickets, right? or is this it. it's sold out, we're all screwed?
I think that presale only had about 10% of the tickets for the shows
-
I don't think thats true at all.
well I got tickets to both radiohead's auditorium shows in the presale, and one of them I got about 5 minutes after the other
this one I got shut down right away, I sure hope I can pull through with ticketmaster on saturday now
-
I tried right at 10 and got nothing for the 2nd night
I conceded and went to night two and got tickets in row S, but two of the people I was gonna go with don't have tickets now because of this
damnit the presale went out faster than radioheads
