  1. Phooey. Stubbs is okay if and ONLY if 1) the weather in Austin actually cooperates for once and it's not hot & humid or cold & raining outside, or 2) you luck out and surround yourself with an audience that's there to watch and listen to the band performing onstage. Otherwise, it's a barrage of nonstop talking, cell phones/texting, drinking and smoking for a social scene rather than a concert. The ideal place for Wilco in Austin is a multiple-night stand at the Long Center, with Bass Concert Hall a distant second. That being said, last night's show turned out much better than I
  2. Do you have any idea how crappy it is to see bands perform at the Austin Music Hall (with horrible acoustics and terrible sightlines for 90% of all attendees)? I was hoping for the Long Center myself, with Bass Concert Hall a distant second, but the new arena in Cedar Park was said to have been designed with music performances in mind so I'm more than willing to give it a chance. Anything is better than Stubbs, where tedious drunken hipsters on their cell phones come in droves to do everything BUT watch bands perform.
  3. There was no El Paso poster commissioned for this show, sad to say...I checked with their merch guy as soon as I got there. Also, the setlist as posted in the original post is slightly off; "Spiders" and "Misunderstood" are switched around, and "Walken" was also included in the encore. The band played from approximately 9:20pm to 11:30pm, much like they did for Tucson the following night. Here's the corrected list: 1. Wilco (The Song) 2. I Am Trying to Break Your Heart 3. You Are My Face 4. One Wing 5. Pot Kettle Black 6. A Shot in the Arm 7. Bull Black Nova 8. Side with the Seeds 9. S
