I forget the exact date but back in, I dunno maybe 92 or so I went to see the Allman Brothers at Great Woods (I think they call it the Tweeter Center now) in Massachusetts. Apparently the night before in NY Dickie Betts got busted for beating up his wife or something. Anyways the show starts and out comes Zach Wylde....seriously. Ozzy Osbourne's guitar player. He's got the bullseye patter Gibson explorer and he busting out heavy metal chops on "Statesboro Blues". We were pretty close to the stage and you could actually see other guys in the band rolling their eyes at him. I left after 3 songs.
I too was at this show. A wild (no pun intended) moment came towards the middle of the set - Zach Wylde took a huge drink of water and then turned around approached the end of the stage and spat it out on the first few rows - gross. Luckily I was just out of reach. Can you imagine the hippy/biker crowd getting water sprayed on them from the mouth of Zach Wylde. He was lucky to make it out alive after a stunt like that. I did not enjoy that show , but later hearing the recording - the unique-ness has it rated right up there in the 'freak' show category.

FLAC's are tough to figure out at the start, but it is well worth learning. You instantly have access to anything via the different Flac/torrent sites out there.

I actually have a Cowan IAudio X5L that plays all formats (including MP3's and FLAC's). The player is the best I have owned - battery is great and I can pick and choose my formats. When I get suckered into buying a song for $1 on Itunes - well then I load the 128k MP3. When I download a FLAC from one of the torrent sites, I load it and give a few listens before removing it, buring it to DVD, and filing it in the collection. Can you tell a difference between the two - not through headphones (unless you use a pair of Sennheiser HD-25's), not through the system in either of my cars, but in my home where I have a nice set up that I can really 'crank' with a sub (ensuring I am getting most freqs) - you can most certainly tell the difference.
The best portable setup I have heard is the Cowan IAudio X5L with a pair of Sennheiser CX-300 earbuds.

I just saw these... Thanks Radio King. Great work. What program do you you as a template - Nero doesn't seem to have a 'booklet cover'.

I now understand what Jeff was taking about with the camera clicks and beeps. Towards the end of this recording you can hear a flood of artificial camera sounds. For everyones sake, please turn those sounds off before you attend any show (yes, that means you might have to read your manual). I can see why this annoys Jeff and everyone who is not beepin and 'fake camera-sounding' away.
No offense MKH - I am just commenting the recording notes. I have listened to this 5x already.

Thanks for sharing this recording MKH. Great sound! The 'Acuff Rose' without the PA shines - it is obvious you were close or in a great location. bt.etree is my new fav website...

Who wants Aaron Rowand? We need a good relief pitcher (Antonio Alfonseca & 'Flash' Gordon scare me). Although Alfonseca is an 8th inning upgrade over Arthur Rhodes - still 'Flash' is pushing 40 years old and had a rotten second half in '06.

new here, but my 2 cents...
I agree when it hurts when you see a favorite song on a TV ad or radio jingle, but more often than not I hear new music - songs that might I not be exposed to otherwise. If I see an ad, tv show, or movie with a 'catchy' song that I am not familiar with I instantly go the the message board at adtunes.com (wonderful site for ad/tv/movie music info) and look it up then head over to Itunes and drop $1.
some of the stuff that site led me too:
Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole
It Must Be Love by Madness
Alive & Amplified by The Mooney Suzuki
Ice Cream by New Young Pony Club
De l'alouette by RJD2
Remind Me by Royksopp
Punkrocker by Teddybears (featuring Iggy Pop)

I just downloaded this show off of etree. It sounds great. Thank you to the tapers. It took a little while to figure out the flac/torrent thing, but holy crap - now that I have learned- I can not believe how much is out there.
Another Hammerstein/NYC date(s)?
